I would hope that Norris doesn't jump to Mercedes - I think there is a definite upwards and positive trend at McLaren and he would be wise to ride that wave

I;ve heard Sky report the same kind of thing. I reckon Lewis will come back to go for that 8th title. Show the kids how it is done and I am sure it will be impressive to see.

If he didn't come back..then I would be wanting a safe pair of hands in that car and maybe it would have to be Raikkonen :D
All I have heard is unnamed "sources" and I'm sorry they carry no more weight for me than "my mate down the pub".

To bring this back to the reason it was being discussed in this thread though, I don't believe Norris would be Merc's first target.

I think they would first of all try and get Bottas back - he knows the team and how they work etc. Failing that, I think they'd look to another Merc powered team and try to secure Vettel.
Agree. Bottas first, even if it was a 'loan' for a season, second choice I think they might go for Ricciardo as the safe hands (yes, that makes it relevant to McLaren)

Amen...
Because he was the last big Mclaren driver and it is off season.

Amen!

Dear lord lol
So Button, Alonso, Ricciardo and Norris are/were bunch of amateurs?...
They are your words, I don't live in a world of extremes so please don't project them to me :)

He is the last driver to win a world title with Mclaren and the only Mclaren driver to win a title with the team in 23 years so yeah he is more important in our history than most Mclaren drivers of late.

Senna is big in our history, Hakkinen, Hamilton, Lauda, Prost and Bruce himself for instance. James Hunt too.

Alonso, Button for me are footnotes in the teams greatness. Ricciardo and Norris have come nothing near those chaps so far I'm afraid.

He is a Mercedes man now, and has nothing to do with McLaren. Move on.
