Let’s look at the possible disappointment looming.
It’s quite likely that most if not all the teams will reveal the fia show car through February as their launch car.
The launch could well be just livery.
Be prepared.

Yes, and I understand the first test is completely private, no journalists are allowed. We will be reliant on people at the circuit taking sneaky photos and videos.

And even then most of the teams will run a half spec car, not really relevant for the first race.
The concept of the car will probably be there, however most of what is to be put on the car for the first race will probably be missing. The chassis/ side pod inlet area is going to be hard to ignore as it’s pretty much impossible to change this once the concept is set.
But the front wing, rear wing will probably not be what will be on the car come March.

Why would the sport decide (yet again) to give a big middle finger to the fans?

The only alleged reason I have seen is that Bahrain paid to be the only testing venue televised

This is the problem with modern sport (sorry for the OT), the sport thinks it doesn't really need the fans, it is the same with Football, since they got TV money they was no longer reliant on filling the stadiums, they got more from the TV companies.

LMP1 cars back in 2016 had a weight of 875kg, dripping wet that was around 950kg. These new F1 cars dripping wet, are 885kg. These cars are so heavy that they drive more like LMP or GT cars than F1 cars, just from the sheer mass. When Vettel won his first championship the cars were 770kg with 150kg of fuel onboard. These new cars weigh more than that with no fuel in the car.

Then there's the tires, likely derived from the tires Pirelli provides for GT3 cars.

I don’t know why but I wasn’t going to bother much at all this year. Maybe because these contraptions look to have been designed for some other reason than racing. As far as I (was) concerned they represented nothing more than an attempt by one entity to neuter another, (Newey). However it seems that now RedBull know all about how the cake-walk was pulled off Mr. Newey & Co, now having settled into things more comfortably, are very likely to resume normal service and lift both Championships this year. I predict both Championships because these weighty more powerful and appropriately Geared vehicles will no doubt allow Mr. Perez to shine more brightly.
