The hinge design is also obviously designed to shed a vortex with that nice big triangle of metal sticking up in to the airflow at a slight angle to the stream.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

That is quite a sharp turn below the undercut, I wonder how much air they can turn with that sort of shape.
It's a bit hard to see on the limited set of pictures we have so far, but doesn't it look like a sort of opening where the diffusor steps up? Theres an odd joint/assembly there and I can't tell if there's a kind of Naka duct there or else, I guess not but it looks odd.
Isn't that usually position where they place IR cameras for monitoring the rears ?
I guess yeah that would make more sense, but why put it inside the floor exactly where the underbody surface needs to be the cleanest?

Really looks odd from another angle. Surely it's nothing but I really don't get why there's paneling+stuff happening there.

Where did you find a photo of holes in the tea tray? There does seem to be a winglet on the splitter.

Not at that angle. Holes, or small tunnels directly behind it going under the centre of the car.

Gills were banned along with Chimneys.. but it was more for the chimneys why closed holes were banned in the side pods 50mm above the reference plane.

A few things, for one, they can clean up the rear tire wake above the tire. Additionally, they allow you to run a tighter coke bottle and smaller cooling exit at the rear.

My mistake, for some reason I thought siskue2005 was talking about the undercut (Toro Rosso style) being banned.
