McLaren MCL36 Speculation Thread

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Fellas, open up the McLaren app
Well yes, that's where these pictures come from. Still can't tell what they're actually showing...

I read that as "The Kimi" 🤣 🤣 🤣

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

I have the gut feeling that McLaren will show something different with the sidepods.

Longitudinal gills to generate a vortex along the sidepod "edge" to get more air just over the floor?

I don't know anything. Just a gut feeling.
MP4-26?

No, thanks.

In fact, I was thinking more in downwashing over the sidepods, to feed the upside of the floor and cleaning the flow to the rear wing.

it's got the identical logo on the drs actuator. But until McLaren unveil we don't know.

It could also be someone who edited it on a fan render?

Still could be a fan render. We should know soon enough.

Looks real to me. Very different sidepod philosophy compared to AM. No undercut at all.

Bargeboards are still here.

Very short distance from the front wheels to the front of the sidepods. Interesting.

Can't wait to see some high-res images, it seems the common theme is to push the sidepods as far forward as the rules will allow. The interesting difference here is they've made them much lower than Aston and Haas.

Looks pretty legit. Stunning car if so.
