Alfa Romeo C42

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Top beam wing looks cut instead of folded.

Maybe an AT03 copy incoming?

About the front lower wishbone, seen it more clearly now. It's not my thought of a 2014 Mercedes style, but the front wishbone is pointing up a bit, to create a downward airflow, and the second wishbone is placed a little bit lower (as are the top ones)

Are they trying to feed some air in from just in front of the rear tyre as well?

Seems so AM also have a half-moon/ spherical cutout as the diffuser begins to ramp, KYLE.ENGINEERS posited that its to reenergise/add some more energy into the flow at that stage of the diffuser.

I wonder why AR used this camo paint. I'd have thought painting it matt black would be a much more effective way of hiding the design. You'd see little if anything of the shapes, gaps, details, etc.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

There is strange concave shape (concave tunnel leading edge) behind the bottom wishbones in that front view...

Are they using that bump to accelerate airthat flows there, by squeezing it between the bump and the sidepod bottom?

Is it just the camo livery that makes it look that way or does the front of the nose have a steeper "drop" than the rest?

Also, how come it's always Alfa Romeo/Sauber who use a roll bar rather than a roll hoop :D

The way the upper air inlet duct drops away so dramatically and leaves a thin fin (and roll blade/bar) is very interesting indeed.

Would you call it the anti-Alpine A521? With cooling moved from the centreline to the sidepods?

The thin fin on the engine cover is huge!
I guess it is the same dimensions as everyone else (else others would run a bigger sharkfin if that was permitted?), it just seems bigger because there is no duct inside? :?:

8 cars out of 10 had a big centerline cooling system in 2021.
