Now what does FIA do? They can't take that marketing exposure away from Bahrain, so they have no choice but to make Barcelona a closed doors event?
Need more drones and good camerasbauc wrote: ↑20 Feb 2022, 22:22I've read somewhere that some locals were organizing a drone to fly around and record, I hope this is true it will be cool and it will also give FIA & FOM the middle finger.... which they respectfully deserve for this.
I for one want a good season, so I don’t mind the extra days of testing to ensure that we don’t have cars either way off the pace at the beginning of the season (like Williams a couple of years ago) or with a lot of DNF’sJordanMugen wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 04:04Not Formula One Management?PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑01 Feb 2022, 23:21I reckon that Bahrain was scripted to exclusively hold the test, but then the teams reuested Barcelona in addition. Anyway, I don't understand the extra test, why not make the teams arrive at Bahrain unprepared and make them sweat. Far more entertaining!
It's a test without upholding the norms of spectators being able to attend. It's what Barcelona had before Bahrain paid to take it from themcooken wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 02:09May I ask what is a shakedown exactly? What is the purpose, what does it entail?
I casually tried to explain what it meant to my wife and struggled not to use the word "test" in my explanation. Maybe I'm missing something here...because all I keep reading is "no no it isn't a test it's just a test".
One big difference not mentioned yet is that there is no official timing being provided either. I assume that means that teams will not know about each others performance yet either, unless they get a stop watch out that isnzjrs wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 10:30It's a test without upholding the norms of spectators being able to attend. Sorry, thought you were just stating no live timing provided to the public, didn't know even teams and medias in the press room wouldn't get timing ... I mean this is ridiculous.
Shakedown in F1 terms means 100km max on unrepresentative tire not a full 3 day test.theblackangus wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 03:41I think a shakedown is "Make sure you have assembled it correctly and it runs w/o issue".
no apologies necessary... after a little research it turns out i'm wrong anyway.Marble wrote: ↑21 Feb 2022, 12:06Sorry, thought you were just stating no live timing provided to the public, didn't know even teams and medias in the press room wouldn't get timing ... I mean this is ridiculous.
Teams get GPS data so they'll easily get the info
This 'Barcelona behind closed doors' just looks a mess from my point of view
