Formula One's most successful team, Scuderia Ferrari have unveiled their brand-new machine, the F1-75 with which the Italian outfit's young driver pair of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will race in the sport's 73rd season.
A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
From that view, it really looks like the sidepods are flicking the air up towards the rear (likely to the wing). Seems to be a very different approach to Merc and McLaren so far. Not sure about Red Bull yet but from those really bad images, it looks like they are down washing like the other two as well.

To me it looks like it directs air towards the center, the advantage in drag that the CFD showed was from not letting air get to the tires (which should also increase efficiency of the wing, brake ducts...).
Something else that occurs to me, is this gonna be delivering extra pressure under yaw? Like a shark fin?
I’ve seen posts on twitter suggesting Ferrari is having a filming day. Can someone clarify my understanding as I thought Fiorano was a 15km filming/promotional day, and today they’re doing a 100km shakedown?

“No such demonstrations may take place on track configurations currently approved for use by Formula 1 cars nor exceed 15km in length, and only tyres manufactured specifically for this purpose by the appointed supplier may be used,”
And 100 km shakedown is another thing and allowed twice per season, right?
I believe the 'Promotional' Days are strictly limited to 15kms and cannot be on an FIA Graded (1 or 1A) Circuit... so their official use is for demonstration runs so to speak like in City Centres and the like. When at Fiorano, which itself is an FIA Graded Track, they had to run a modified configuration so they could do it. Regardless, they still might've taken something away from it; I assume they would run Pirelli's Demonstration Tyres too as a result.
... and then the Filming Days are limited to 100kms on Pirelli Demonstration Tyres, but there has to be legitimate filming carried out too! They'd probably learn a bit more there, despite the tyres being hard as a rock most likely.
Side note, good to see the car running early; Should mean they can hit the ground running come tomorrow. I'm sure we'll see some pictures of some new bits and pieces from the filming day, as well as in the coming days obviously...
I wonder if the yellow rings on the caps have merely aesthetic or rather practical reasons (visual aid/guidance for mechanics during pit stops or something like that) - those weren't there previously.
