Williams FW44

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I think everyone is over thinking this. It probably makes no big difference to the drivers and Williams just didn't invest in making a new wheel/display combo.

Would it also mean the driver can see the display just by dropping his eyeline rather than tilting the head/helmet?
I know the distance is very small but the closer to the eyes the smaller the focal shift becomes.
You can’t really tilt your head in an F1 car, not that you need it to read a display with the steering wheel turn 90 degrees for example :)

One of the reasons I read previously was that the wheel had less "inertia" due to it's lower weight. I think it was inertia

But, what are the advantages of display on the steering wheel?? I don't think that the drivers are looking at the display while turning anyway, so maybe only that te display is closer and is easier to see becouse of that?
It makes the steering wheel lighter and easier to turn, reducing effort required during the race distance.
I would think that the steering wheel with the display is havier, so that would be a disadvantage?
Yeah bad formatting, sorry. I meant that mounting the display on the chassis made the wheel lighter.

I must say, I don't see any slot on top of the sidepods.

There's a panel at the top of the sidepod where the opening was spotted.

I heard a pundit years ago state that using large amounts of flow via can indicate problems with correlation from tunnel to track. Is there any truth in this? Hoping for a good year for Williams. Car looks good.
