A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
I was thinking just the same thing. There are some interesting ideas on the car, as with all the other cars, but so many people on this thread are already declaring it "the most radical", "most developed", "most exciting", "best engineered" car on the grid.
Will it be fast? Yes, almost certainly. RedBull have been a top team for a long time. How fast? Let us wait & see.
However, it is clear, to me at least, that the delay in releasing it was because they simply weren't quite ready. There is still plenty of time before the first race so I fully expect a tidy & competitive car by then.
Marko said the car will be ready for testing and the launch was just for the livery
Yes, and it is ready for testing.....just. If the car had been ready earlier they would have had the same big launch as everyone else. Those launches are important for the corporate side of the race teams business.
That car was tested on 17th Feb, earlier than Mercedes, Ferrari, McLaren, Alpine...

The "icecream sandwich" floor strake arrangement is being used to create a powerful vortex which then flows down towards the floor edge and enters the floor tunnels at the wing/inlet area.
If you look at the cut in the floor edge, you'll see the leading edge of the second piece is lower than the trailing edge of the front floor section. It's trying to prevent air going under the floor and in to the tunnels.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
Like all the cars, there are some interesting bits on this. The sidepods may on the surface, look radical but its really only the entry point to the inlet that is different.
Their beam wing looks quite interesting with the two elements almost layered on top of each other, and that cut out on the side of the floor is also interesting.
