Gary Anderson seems like a dullard.

He said this on therace’s live blog:

“ Ferrari has also added two small cooling ducts just below and behind the Shell logo. Inside of there, it must be struggling with something getting a little too hot.”

The hole he is referring to behind the Shell logo is where they plug in a cable (talked about in B Sport’s YouTube video). It’s also accompanied by a picture of the old floor and the new floor, and he’s suggesting they added this ‘duct’ when changing to the new floor, but it’s actually the old one.

In short, guy has no idea and he’s lost all remaining credibility in my opinion.
Gary Anderson is shockingly clueless. Embarrassing he's functioning as an expert.
Still, the coanda exhaust launches were far worse than this. Why people still pay him to talk or write is beyond me!

Not necessarily imho: for example if the rulebook mandates a stepped floor that makes porpoise impossible the matter is solved and not much can be played around with. That’s just to say that other classes could have dealt with the issue with the rulebook to avoid teams going down a game of chicken.
But the rule book as it is right now doesn’t… If the teams need to compromise performance (lap time) to avoid the porpoise, then they have to and whomever manages to get more performance without it, will be ahead… That’s the challenge and I personally love that is part of the equation for this season

Quite disappointing. I was expecting sub 77 seconds lap based on certain considerations. Seems like nobody was willing to throw the car around. They are close to 3 seconds slower than last year's pole. If we add that this is winter time where the track is faster by around a second, then it's around 4 seconds off for like for like track conditions. Most long run times were in the 83/84 seconds zone, which definitely put the cars on par with last year's race laps. So that says nobody pushed the cars on fumes.

you don't want to crash and set back the whole testing programme. No need for qualy laps.

I think Lewis and Checo are taking a bit more risk now, but still, the carbon guys need to be making newer spec parts next week, not making repair parts.

maybe because it is not a official test, the don't want to spend too much, considering budget constraints?

It's testing, but because Libery like sucking on the money teet its not called that, so that it not the reason.
With how limit testing is these days, having your running curtailed by things that break is not good. They still learn from the process though and can fix the things that break in the meantime.

Better the devil we know. We all criticised Bernie, but at least he was a competitive spirit, initially being part of the competitors...

It seems a bit exaggerated to say that... Bernie did and said all the worst things and made it very clear with TV rights and no internet and social media adoption that money from TVs was more important for him. They also never broadcast a single testing session before. Now we're getting a testing session skipped by F1 TVPro due to contractual agreements and Liberty Media is evil? I don't particularly care about them, but they've done more to increase visibility of the sport in the last 5 years than what Bernie and co did for the previous 20.

And this new rule change is great, this testing session showed how much variety cars have and are now trying a brand new design to attempt to bring back closer racing.

Bernie promoted a sport. Liberty promotes a show, shows make money. Liberty is about money.
I would not go as far as saying liberty is evil, woke? Definitely, but not evil as yet.
Anyway, this conversation has officially got nothing to do with the unofficial test.
