McLaren MCL36

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

The car hasn't been out for over an hour. Do we have any information on the severity of the brake problem today? It seemed better earlier but now it feels like it hasn't been solved 100%

I've seen 2 shots of the Mclaren in that time, no work was being done to the brakes. I'm not sure why they have not gone back out.

It reminds me of 2015-2017. So amateurism….

Someone on autosport mentioned ted saying only back after lunch, so more time wasted

Alright, but is it still the brake issue or do they have any other problems?

Sky - Crofty suggested brakes but I dont think that was based on anything but his usual, mostly ill informed ramblings.

https://the-race.com/formula-1/mclaren- ... brake-fix/ I think we all knew this test was a write off given the severity of the issue and not being able to make a part overnight. Hopefully they can get it sorted for next weekend or could be a painful first race for the team.

Do we know if it was the same spec as they ran in Barcelona?

If not, could they not go back to that spec as a compromise?
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️

As with everything in F1, a compromise is needed, I’m thinking running the floor lower to the ground for better aero will give more laptime than laptime found riding the kerbs?
Or can anyone suggest otherwise?

https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/why-r ... s/8941386/

It’s Autosports subscription content so I can’t quote the exact paragraph.

Regarding Mclaren within the article it says that Mclaren arguably has the porpoising under control the best so can run the car lower to the growing for aero but Lando says that he can’t attack the kerbs like the other drivers can.
Just a fan's point of view
