My prediction: I think they’ll be into or below the 1:30’s next week.

Aka, these times still mean nothing.

Times aren't really full out yet, last year's pole was 1.29.9 on C3, I wouldn't say they aren't pushing or that a time below 1.33 is slow, but going below C3 is going to make you faster than you'll be next week with at most the C3.

1. Verstappen: 1m31.720s, C5
2. Leclerc: 1m32.415s, C4
3. Alonso: 1m32.698s, C4
4. Russell: 1m32.759s, C5
5. Bottas: 1m32.985s, C3

Hmm

Bottas only 0.2 behind Russel on C3 vs. C5?
Times are not too comparable...
Very true, the 1.2 Bottas is behind Max is mostly gone when you adjust for 2 compounds softer. Reading testing times from short runs is almost impossible

I was watching the live timing comparing Russel to Norris and the Mercedes has 8 gears and the McLaren 7. Is this strange yes or no ?
Both have 8 gears, maybe Lando wasn't getting into 8th due to engine mode or to limit top speed.

GAME over for Mercedes, The REDBULL are on another level. They could potentially be faster than last year's time.
Aston Martin looking good, Merc seem slower than them, even if it is sandbags, they are struggling with bottoming already.
thats what we said last year after pre season........

when you don't want accept Mercedes can be slow and alpha Romeo can be fast

Its 2022, new aero regs, cost cap. Merc car is bouncing like a ball. They had to raise the ride height and the race runs were pathetic, Russells short runs were sloow, maybe they have fuel or engine mode left. But it looks like the group has bunched up a lot.

Of course not. They know what they have and f.e. Ferrari already made that very clear. Mercedes is up there, they have an enormous floor, it will work.

Alfa Romeo has a Ferrari PU, the best PU at the moment, so this is not a surprise.

Haas putting in a 1:32:2 on C4’s shows how pointless these times are. Yes the track is cooler, but it’s still a Haas.

I personally don’t think Merc is sandbagging. Their ugly blob side pods and boat anchor rear wheel situation will be their demise. 😉Certainly Merc sandbagged for years to hide their 2 sec advantage and keep the FIA from taking away their obscene speed while coronating their golden calf 7 times with hollow driver championships, but those days are looooooong over baby! Woohoo! =D> =D> =D> Loving this season already! 😎👍
