Absolutely nothing mate. Consistent running. Clearly wanting to see on race fuel and high temps trackside whether this fix works for them for now. As they were short of race runs during testing, this was a good replacement. Decent pace too (with caveat of not knowing fuel load, but expecting to be high to get as much energy into the brakes as possible)

From what I saw on the same tyre, same stint length Lando was consistently faster than both bulls lando doing low 38's and redbulls mid 39's, obviously we don't know all the variables but it isn't as bad as the timings show, those fast laps were on installation laps for gathering aero data, noone did performance laps

I mean from team stream their run on the mediums was long run or as they call it "continuous laps", fast laps on softs I guess they werent going for it balls to the wall because they were testing their brake ducts out.

Considering the issues from testing and the fix they needed to check, the smart thing to do was probably checking the worst case scenario for the brakes - fill the tank so you've got max weight and monitor the temps over longer runs. Next session might be more representative, though McLaren made a habit of running heavy/detuned on Fridays all last season so we'll only really know the pecking order when it matters - in quali and the race.

Aren't we a little bit slow? Were we doing long runs?

Yep sandbagging for sure on heavy fuel. Just doing our own program assessing the brake tolerances. Roll on FP2.

Clearly focussed on long runs while evaluating the brake solution, treated very much like a testing session. Too early to call them slow, and definitely not sandbagging. Just sticking to their own agenda.

Anyone have a source for the stint times to gloss over?

God damn lol I'm in back to back meetings today, literally 30 minutes free between now and 5 and then I have to take Scarlett swimming!

I might move the TV into my office.....
You don’t have a TV in your office? That’s a must! 😁

Good session for the team, plenty of laps it seems

You could class sandbagging as not showing your hand which is what we are doing at the moment due to focusing on testing out this new brake fix with some long runs on heavy fuel.

Sandbagging denotes been purposely slow… Focusing on your own program and been “slow” because of that are very different things.

Those last 3 laps are pretty impressive in terms of consistency

This was Perez/Verstappen stint:

Both Mediums

For comparison

1.39.189
1.39.194
1.39.331
1.39.378
1.40.832
1.42.033

1.38.702
1.39.190
1.38.872
1.38.890
1.39.060
1.39.862
1.39.365
1.39.759
1.39.250
1.39.598

Obv. we don't know the variables fuel load etc. but still good to get a ballpark figure
also important to note majority of Lando's lap were ran following Perez very close 1-1.5 seconds
