Still, most representative is really Quali and then the Race, I will lay money on some of the faster cars spinning out. We are already seeing back ends lose it quite easily, including on the kerbs.

Its not looking good….
Welcome to the sharkpit

There's so much going off right now. The only real FP you get a proper sense of order is FP3 and even then things can go on their head due to FP strategies and even silly thinks like wind pattern behaviour on track, swinging in favour from one car to another. Mclaren had this last year when we look strong in FP3 and blew it in Q, and it turned out that our car struggle with certain tailwinds that picked up before Qualy.

Everyone's mantra for the new season, repeat it every weekend: Practise tells me nothing, practise tells me nothing..

Then do 4 hail Marys and if you're not religious, maybe 4 Bloody Mary's instead.
Haha I take 4 hot shot Galliano

Some around here will say everything is allright even if we have two DNFs on sunday :)
Yeah and that's an opinion based on some fact, although still not enough. But there's no fact at this point, that's all I'm saying. there's nothing concrete to extract with which you can even hypothesise let alone create some kind of statistical outcome with probability of being correct.

You were expressing an opinion which is fine really, but the whole prediction of time from FP is a sore subject here and never fails to get a sharp response

Because it's pointless! :D

The first 3 races is gonna be as much about how many teams get lucky with dropping into the right setup and tyre window as the car pace.

I think this is the right time to drop the old adage >> "It is easier to make a fast car reliable than a reliable car fast"?

Do you think we are in a good shape for the race? Was last weekends test a good step forward?
How the hell do you know we are not in a good shape after literally the first practice session of the season.

There were fp sessions last year where they were lower than p15 and did amazing on quali when it mattered (e.g Imola).

So to answer your question, I don't know if we are on a good shape. But I also don't know if we are on a bad shape.

If they are still p16 and p17 tomorrow, then you can say that, but not literally after the first FP1 of the season.
And even if tomorrow they don’t reach the top 10, that doesn’t mean that the season is over… With these cars there is an expectation that performance will go up and down depending on the track, with a lot of performance (or lack thereof) been track specific for different teams… A result of so much variance on designs and approaches to the new regulations.

Seidl told Sky that they weren't doing any performance runs and just testing out the brakes in fp1. Apparently Lando said the car felt good.

It's just 4 tenths to P4, but I have to admit, even though its just 4 tenths, a P4 looks a lot better than a P11.

Gotta wait for tomorrow though.

Lando was purple in the middle sector which is the least power sensitive. Looks like Merc engines are clearly turned down still while Ferrari may be turned up? (looking at you Alfa and Haas + Ferrari)
