Here are the stats I was speaking about earlier, sorry couldn't post it then. Just generally slow on all slow/mid speed corners and decent on high-speed ones. Apart from 5-7, which are high speed but still very slow for McLaren, and I am assuming that's because they are getting a horrible exit out of 4 + turned down engine.

Car actually even looks slow on track.. It just doesn't look aggressive enough to me. I hope I'm wrong and they are just doing some runs everyone else did last week. But my feeling is that this car is worse than anything we have seen from mclaren in a while. Not even speaking about reliability with today's issue for Daniel and the brakes.. Really fingers crossed for a little surprise tomorrow, both cars in Q3 would be enough for me at this stage.

I'm sorry to say but this car Is a flop. The issues of slow speed were supposed to be resolved in the new regulations. Why have we carried that over. Not only that, we are not even at rhe top end of high speed. Seems a midfield car at best, If not worse.

Very disappointing.

The car could still be subpar in slow corners, but it has nothing to do with “carrying over” any characteristic of previous cars… At the end, the lower performance is compared to other cars, there was no way to know how fast anyone would be in an slow corner before the cars hit the track.

Not even one classifying session or race… I’m afraid that this thread is not going to be a pleasant place with all the negativity and over reaction from some.

Just being realistic, 1.2 seconds of in long runs. That gap simply doesn't disappear even with set up optimisation . The car is fundamentally weak. 200 laps in testing and another 50 laps here. If you haven't simulated the fk out of that then what else can you conclude?

It's a flop

It's madness. The 'technical' aspect of this place with thoughtful insight and understanding is slowly being pushed aside by partisan nonsense. Removing reputation from team threads partly to blame I must admit.

Yeah, it's pretty evident from FP that we're basically doing catch up, and McLaren never really bother the times on a Friday, points are on Sunday so hopefully we're higher up than what people are saying.

It's a little disappointing though that Key hyped up a "Substantial update at the first race" and we got what? a new floor and front wing on day 2 of testing and that's it?

Assessments on the car after one Friday practice session are premature… I would argue that even a few races will be needed to make an assessment.

I agree 100%… Let’s discuss why it may be behind the rest, what they are missing… But making it just a b!#$ng exercise to vent apparent frustrations with no constructive discussion coming from it isn’t what this forum is supposed to be about… That’s what places like Reddit or Twitter are for.

Some of those updates may have been delayed until they solved the brake issues and recover part of the long run time loss during testing… I don’t mind if they are a little behind the part introduction plan, as long as it isn’t because of correlation issues making them doubt of the path moving forward.

Today's FP2 was still one tenth behind our fastest testing time on day 3 last week.

Lando: “We've got a lot of pace to find if we want to be competitive with any of the guys in the top 10.”
So, from having one of - if not the most balanced cars on track at Barcelona, to struggling to get to Q3 now? What the hell happened? At Barcelona the paddock hyped the possibility of seeing McLaren back as a championship contender. Last week it went down already to fighting Mercedes for 3rd, which seemed realistic. Today, Lando’s prospect is we aren’t even top 5 material. What will it be tomorrow? Fighting Williams? After all the tough years we had, it seemed we were progressing back to the front where we belong. I am very disappointed after all the buzz that was created and I dragged myself along with. Hopeful we can turn this around, but I need to let it sink in for a moment because I am not ready to be celebrating P10’s anymore like during the Honda times. I expect more now. And I think the team should be expecting the fans to expect more as well, if we’re ever to be a top team again. Coming up with excuses and accepting this performance, is accepting mediocrity for the foreseeable future. Williams 2.0 will be our fate then.
