This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
Haas wilm not have developed that idea to any extent so what Guenther says holds no water.
It's easy to see where Mercedes is focusing their efforts to fix this problem; all we have to do is look where they use rakes and Flow-vis.
They had rakes still on the coke bottle today. At least this are what we were able to see. Mercedes could have some issues upstream of that area. Flows either unstable or or something.
As Edison said 1% inspiration 99% perspiration. The devil is in he detail
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.
Those with the bouncing under control are the frontrunners at this stage, moreso than the concept differences.
So he is admitting that they were testing around different setups from testing and they were continuing it in fp1 and fp2.
What they will do in fp3 and qualy will determine if everything is working or not.
Well if small teams like Williams and Haas can make is work I guess it will work for Merc tomorrow

Best thing they can do is lift it up and stop it from bouncing. How much performance that loses from the ride height change is anyones guess.
The fact they havent managed to get 'on top' of it at all, is worrying for them as they are trying all sorts to find the middle ground now that every other team has managed.

As Mercedes appears to have done this in testing, Mercedes probably know how much they'd lose. That they aren't doing it suggests the performance loss is too large to be considered.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.
Until Q3 i will believe where the car is.
They are play8ng the long game and testing to get on top of the car.
If they increased the ride height just to do well at this track, they will never know what the car is capable of.
Fairly self-evident they're not as dominant as, say, in 2014.
That said, I wouldn't believe a word that comes out of the mouth of Hamilton, Russell, Bono, or especially Toto, regarding their competitiveness.
Every time Mercedes hasn't been obviously quicker, you'd think the sky was falling on their heads.
Odds on, Mercedes will have both cars in the top 6, maybe one on the front row. Hardly the end of the world considering the car has clear limitations - for now.
Just goes to show the level of success they have enjoyed for so long. Outside the front row equals failure it seems.
Im thinking about something that maybe it is underrated. In the last years we heared news about the fact that Ferrari invested much much money in the wind tunnel, simulation and CFD tools. There is also an article from 2017 in AMUS and motorsport-total about the fact that Red Bull also investing much much money in simulator and wind tunnel. We hear also about the plans of Mclaren and Aston Martin about this. Aboud Mercedes I found Only that they upgraded the wind tunnel in 2012 and the fact that they had a simulator where they can test half of the car in reality condisions inherited from Honda. And the fact that on the moving staff apart from Dan Fallows there are more Mercedes engineers to other teams and in the italian press also some bright engineers from Brackly to Maranello. It also weird that Mercedes could not block a Red Bull driver in a Mercedes powered car. If it would have been the other way around Marko would have had the power to stop De Vries on a Alpha Tauri or Ferrari to stop a De Vries in Haas. Maybe Mercedes reduced the amount of money that goes to the team and the resources of the team. And the fact that Red Bull took no anonymus young engineerS or some ordinary engineer from manufacturing. They took the best men and the leaders in several crucial departments of the Brixworth. Also the fact that Red Bull has the power to give them so much money over what Mercedes offer. Maybe they are complacent or are not having the mood to invest at the same level with ferrari and red bull. Albon should not have been in a Williams. Not game or blakcmail the Williams. But Capito should have been made clear thar he can have what drivers he wants but no Red Bull or Ferrari juniors. No if you are in the Mercedes camp. Maybe their power is declining.
So it looks like the team is working around the porpusing issues with setup changes right now. This car could be in a league of its own if the team can get it all worked out.

Russel's car still bouncing on his latest hot lap down the straight

If you watch closely, they all bounce a lot, because the track surface is old now, and very bumpy! The Merc is also more stiffly sprung that some of the other teams, so no matter what it will always look like it's bouncing more!

They are still finding that compromise between performance and bouncing. Russell's set up seems a bit too much bouncing so I think they will dial it back to whatever Hamilton was running.
We are still four tenths to half a second down at the end of it all.

Quite a bit in racing terms (especially F1). As someone mentioned before, I wonder if time of the day and the density of the air have anything to do with it.
