So Zhou has his time deleted? Why not Perez and Gasley in Q1?
I think someone said Perez did another lap, not sure about Gasly

Because consistency rule application has always been the issue that bugs me most

There’s the issue. Zhou has his time deleted because it’s easy but with Perez they look the other way.

It’s the flexy rules that do people’s heads in.

They should. But did they cross limits in the best lap? Perez was in his first lap right?

Perez did a faster lap right at the end of Q3.

However, the first time should have been deleted.

Think Merc will be happy being within half a second.

Well, I guess we now see about the true spread ... all very close, especially when you consider MB still will recover quite a bit once they tackle the porpoising.
Gonna be at least a three-way season I reckon, maybe even wider

That shouldn’t matter. The deleted time should be for the lap ran. The fact Perez set a faster lap shouldn’t matter as he would just jump from no time to a legal time.

I'd be more inclined to believe Ferrari and Honda said forget about reliability!
Why would they do that though? Maybe the merc engine is carrying some issue
Look at last year, several teams gained more by burning though pu than they did trying to conserve them!
So better not make it to Q2 instead of turning the PU up? Not saying it was the PU of course, as all the named teams have some aero/mechanical issues at the moment, but what you’re saying doesn’t make sense.

Yeah, but it was a good 10mins before he set another lap, the previous lap should have been deleted in this time and there was no sign of that happening. We saw it live, and it was clear as day. The lap should have been removed within a minute or 2.

Yep the lap should be deleted there and then, adds pressure and jeopardy for the driver to ensure his next lap is clean
