The Mercedes Engine for all Mercedes cars including the factory team is not working properly. But for Mclaren there is also a fundamental problem with the car and not the engine only.
And how do you know it's a fundamental problem and not a lack of 150 laps in testing at this track?

The pace on the Hards right after the pitstop isn’t bad… 1.39.3, faster than even Magnussen in P6
Magnussen’s tyres are 10 laps older and they are soft. Not relevant.

Instead of it. Let’s check Alonso laps. He is on the same stint

1:39.1 in his third lap, 1.39.0 in the 4th lap… Not bad if he can maintain that pace

2.4 second stop for Norris
That’s a silver lining… It wasn’t talked much, but McLaren is supposed to have a new / innovative pit stop equipment (the guns themselves)
At present we have to take any wins we can. If the car is running poorly, it’s good to see other areas are in good shape

I wasn’t tracking Alonso, but that’s a good point… Alonso’s last lap was 1.38.7, Lando’s last lap was 1.38.8… Russell has been above the 1.39’s for several laps now (his last lap on Hards was 1.39.4)

I don't really know. Do you know if we magically gain the speed of Ferrari and Red Bull when we fulfill whatever we miss?

Lando behind Hulk again, but he should have enough tire delta to try and overtake him

Interesting… Red Bull’s pit stops slower than usual, not at the top end like usual

management needs to withhold the urge to go Ferrari of old scorched earth campaign and begin drop kicking people left and right, need to put the no blame culture they have built into practice.
