Toto admitting to Sam Collins that part of the time lost is due to the Mercedes engine.

Definitely the engine is not that good, all Mercedes customer teams struggling together at the back. Other than that, McLaren definitely got issues themselves. Maybe all of those add up together and give the result we witness now.

Honda sure do have the fastest engine, but 3 blew up out of 4 today, not expecting much at Jeddah, maybe Melbourne will be nicer

AM had cooling issues, and a lot of engine problems. Seems like there are indeed serious issues with the Mercedes engines.

Did I miss a safety car rule? How come Stroll and co didn’t catch the pack before the restart?

Lando and Daniel were both told to cool the PU on a few occasions, so definitely not running at full beans. There were rumours around the paddock this weekend that the new E10 fuel was causing more heat than anticipated. The 3 RB failures seem to back that up too. Ferrari appear to have nailed it on the efficiency front, as well as drivability on top of their power increase. Kudos.

Edit: It appears Red Bulls issues were related to the fuel pump, which is a shared spec part that all teams were worried about coming into the weekend. The housing for the electronics was cracking and letting fuel in. Not sure if the higher oxygen count in the extra ethanol had a part to play.

I would assume it might be the design problem with their ultra slim sidepods and innovative cooling solution...they probably havent told customers what they are intending to do and i do wonder if all 3 customers were not briefed enough when getting the engine, or am i simply going overboard with my conspiracy theory?
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

Yea which is the same rule as before, don’t they let them re-join the queue or has that never been the case? I’m so confused after the Abu Dhabi fiasco...

The British pilot was quite honest: according to him, it was not at all the brakes, which the MCL36 had experienced difficulties with since the beginning of the tests in Bahrain.

“It's a sin to complain about the engines, because Mercedes finished the race in 3rd and 4th places,” Norris said after the race. “But it certainly doesn’t help—I think we definitely don’t have enough power compared to the rest of the guys. Reliability is good, and this is a positive thing. We are far behind in “pressure”, and therefore handling also suffers.

It's not an easy car and these tires are hard to get to optimal condition - and when you don't have downforce, you can't make the rubber work well. There is understeer or oversteer: there is always too much change, and this is our main problem - I think it is necessary that there be less of these changes. Need more downforce front and rear, it's all about downforce. Sounds simple, but it's obviously very hard to figure it out.

I still believe that some tracks will be more suitable for us and that it will not be worse, but who knows. There is still a lot of time - there is a whole season ahead, during which we will develop, update the car and deal with what is happening. And all this is not easy.

I expect it to hurt, and I think everyone needs to understand that it will most likely hurt a little. Yes, both me and McLaren are expecting more, but for now, at the moment, we don’t have it, so we need to get used to it. ”

Yikes. Trying to "find" more downforce through the season is a difficult task. Probably doubly so given this the first year of the new regs.

But, it could lead to a better understanding of the concept.

On the plus side, who'd have thought we'd leave Bahrain above Red Bull in the WCC?? 😝
Favourite driver: Lando Norris
Favourite team: McLaren

Turned down the chance to meet Vettel at Silverstone in 2007. He was a test driver at the time and I didn't think it was worth queuing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️
