Don't believe the stuff russell said about the final run. I am not buying that. When it came down to qualy, lewis turned up the heat. He was 1-2 tenths quicker when both on the track at the same time. He was studying the telemetry so closely (i assume at lewis's lap traces?), then in Q3 on used softs again slower. On final run he knew on pace vs pace his Q2 lap he said himself was really really good (but slower than lewis). He was forced to try something else and made a mistake. My point was he was forced to try something new/not same as lewis as in a straight fight he knew he didn't have the pace with his q2/q3 runs beforehand.

The difference in the race was lewis was always driving within himself on older tyres but still lapping the similar to George. George was just going for it maximum attacking trying to close lewis down. On the on-boards you could see lewis was managing a lot more (he did have older tyres), but george was pushing hard on fresher tyres. So you can't really compare both. I still think George doesn't have the mental capacity of lewis/max to think a race through and predicting the race scenarios, when to push, when to tyre save etc. He relies on his pit wall a lot more.
Yeah. Seems he also ran his car lower ride height for a bit more downforce.

A 1-race referendum on Russell's entire Mercedes career.

When he delivered exactly the car's maximum.

C'mon guys.
He's not killing the giant so he's rubbish now.

People will say whatever suits their narrative.

It did seem that was the case as George was bouncing more, maybe didn't want to sacrifice performance and wanted to live with the bouncing -in a quest to beat lewis / gain time.

No, Lewis is average, and has been winning thanks to a rocketship all these years, didn't you know ?

So being beaten by him means George is below average

There would be little worse than a driver first time out throwing away a car in 6th place, except when something happened and it could not finish 4th

Yes 103 wins, more than 5 wins on multiple circuits. All luck! He's lucky to get a slow teammate like George too!
For Sure!!

β€œWe’ve had a debrief with the drivers and it’s a bit of everything. There is the bounce, the balance is mediocre, there is a lack of grip at low speed, they have problems with traction, the drivability could be better, warming up the tires is not good enough, the car is a bit on the heavy side. There are many things we need to work on, but at the same time we can improve a lot,” Andrew Shovlin said in the podcast F1 Nation.

β€œWe are currently working race-by-race and the factory is ready to bring in as much as possible in the coming days. We learn every day, every time the car drives out the factory is working on understanding what is happening. So we’re learning every day and if we have something useful to introduce to Jeddah, we’ll make sure it gets on the car. "

Shame James doesn't specify the causes of the porpoising, only that it is not what has been discussed in the media. Presume he means it is not just a case of loss of downforce due to 'choking' of flow through the venturi tunnels.

Wait, I thought James doesn't work on the F1 programme anymore, his full duties where handed over to Mark elliot. He is full time on outside F1 programmes im really confused he said he had enough of F1, and wanted to do different things. Is he back on the F1 side now? So what does Mark do now then?

You might be thinking of Andy Cowell from HPP, he wanted to leave F1. James Allison was worried he would have to leave Mercedes until Toto created the CTO role for him last year
