However when have Mclaren blamed Mercedes this last week?

“It's a sin to complain about the engines, because Mercedes finished the race in 3rd and 4th places,” Norris said after the race. “But it certainly doesn’t help—I think we definitely don’t have enough power compared to the rest of the guys."
I don't really understand why McLaren went from Renault to Mercedes. Renault and Alpine would potentially have offered far opportunities for McLaren to collaborate on wind tunnel, simulators, gearboxes etc.

The Renault power unit itself is obviously a handy bit of kit too, potentially the third strongest!
Probably didn't trust Renault to build a PU to get them to where they wanted to be ie podiums and wins. Given their past history, that was a good assumption. Red Bull dumped them for a reason. Hard to say no to a PU that had won the majority of races from the start of the turbo hybrid era.

You are right on the collaboration point but McLaren seems to take great pride in its independence.

That’s a comment based on what everyone else has seeing on the track…
I don't follow, it's hardly a statement like "the Mercedes power unit is very strong indeed, so we have more than enough power and a decisive advantage over the rest of the guys like HAAS and Alfa Romeo". Conversely Norris said "we definitely don't have enough power".

Can we expect something better in Saudi Arabia this weekend? Some better set up that might move us up the order or some quick fix?

I think we will be better. We are not 150 laps in the hole like in Bahrain.

Insane to see how small brake opening some teams have. McLaren had a really big brake duct now but still seems to be having issues cooling.

Ahead of Williams. HAAS in a bit of trouble. So maybe 7-8th best team.

Lando during his fastest lap didn't seem to use anything from the battery. Anyone got a replay from that lap?

This is a different track with different characteristics.

Interview with Seidl… Nothing that we don’t know already, there isn’t a fundamental problem with the car, simply the rest of the teams have done a better job… The team back at home are doing everything they can to bring performance to the car quickly and he feels confident with the team we have and how they are reacting to the situation.

McLaren clearly need to start recruiting certain people on this forum who clearly have all the answers. They could just look at the aero and sort it and then move them to the Renault engine, one poster actually asked why they moved to Mercedes. The same Mercedes who have had the best power unit for the hybrid era. Apparently it being a bit down now means you jump ship to Renault. This fuelled by their infallible 20/20 hindsight and know it all attitude.

As someone who was very good at something very difficult I know you don't always get it right. Most of the posters here remind me of the spotters who rocked up at the air show's I attended who would confidently tell me what the Tornado I was stood in front of could, and could not do. As a 1500 hour Weapons System Officer I clearly knew nothing. I would ask them the bold face drills for a double utilities failure and watch them genuinely try to bluff me.

I'm out. Life's too short to entertain stupid.
