What are all those electronics on the front hub? The rules stipulate that braking must be purely mechanical... just sensors?
My guess as well.djos wrote:That would be my guess.ISLAMATRON wrote:

Got a picture of that?vasia wrote:I'm not sure why people are noticing the triple "deck" of Toyota's diffuser only now. They've experimented with the triple deck on their diffuser early in winter testing. In testing they were even sometimes running it asymmetrically with the third deck only on one side of the diffuser.

Theres probably arround 10 diffrent things they monitor on each wheel, like:
Core Wheel RPM
Brake Temprature Inner Disc
Brake Temprature Middle Disc
Brake Temprature Outer Disc
Brake pressure
Air Cooling Volume
Air Cooling Temprature
Ammount of useable brake left avalable (Ware rate essencially)
Thats 8, but im shure theres more, anything that the team think they can analyse to help the set up the car or improve something, it will be recorded. Theres no such thing as too much data.
Here (contrast-enhanced to show third deck):Diesel wrote:Got a picture of that?vasia wrote:I'm not sure why people are noticing the triple "deck" of Toyota's diffuser only now. My first instinct is also to want these removed because on the surface, they are not necessary for the actual race. But the parameters they monitor are also directly applicable to the race. For instance, brake temperature is important, and I have frequently heard engineers telling the drivers to maintain brake temperature.. because the sensors indicate lower than optimum temperatures.ISLAMATRON wrote:I wonder if they take all that crap all the car for the race... lower the unsprung weight... its not like they can change much of any of those parameters during the race.
Look at those two holes on each corner near top side of the nose. I guess they are the cool quick release clips for the noses. Can anyone confirm? It seems like a nose can just be pushed into place and thats it.zgred wrote:
They will probably have at least one guy watching all that crap for each car in the back of the garrage somewhere. I just dont for the love of me cant see why they would need so many sensors myself. Maybes its worth something for they guys that play with the windmills and with computers back at base.ISLAMATRON wrote:I wonder if they take all that crap all the car for the race... lower the unsprung weight... its not like they can change much of any of those parameters during the race.
