What happened to LH from practice 3 to Q1? Did they change something on that car? Fighting with Williams and AM?

Very strange (foolish) they didn’t just come in for fresh tyres with Hamilton.

There are clearly some fundamental issues so why risk trying to do it on tyres that have done multiple laps.

No idea what happened there. Will need an interesting strategy tomorrow....

I can't work out how HAM has a tiny rear wing but losing a whole second to Max on straights alone? The Honda must be a rocketship

Lewis absolutely nowhere. Looking like a Q2 elimination at this point.
How optimistic you were.

Why was he out on 5 laps worth of fuel? Type warm up issues?

Wow, wonder what lewis is struggling with
He seems to be struggling with a car that is not the fastest.
A bit unusual and not what we expect from Lewis with the talent. A fair way behind George so there is obviously more pace in the car somewhere. Expected to see him nail a lap to at least make it out of Q1.

Rear grip. Looks like it’s a little loose and delaying his throttle take up.
To add on this, his trap speed is down. So either drag or can’t get off the corner

Well .. apparently he's just human, settles that.
Still, rest of the pack needs haul points asap as that Merc will switch on somewhere in the future ...

What the hell? He was complaining about power in FP3 though. So could be related.

MOD EDIT: Removal of unnecessary bait

Think steup George more willing to work with the porpoising than Lewis?

They could have gone in after 1 lap, but I guess they have warm up issues so decided to try again. After 2 laps, there were only 3 minutes left so not enough time to put on a new set.

Wow. Looked like the tyres were way off. Snap oversteer in key corners and very tentative all around. Worst track to not deliver at…

Hamilton obviously hasn't forgotten how to drive, just as Russell didn't forget how to drive in Bahrain -- they are both very good drivers and evenly matched. Most likely Hamilton had balance or specifically tyre temperatures issues I would expect, as tyre temperature can cost huge amounts of performance.

Russell, mind you, did do a great job of dragging the Mercedes to P4 (albeit 0.8s down on Red Bull and Ferrari). =D>

There were only three minutes left, not enough time for a pitstop and outlap I suspect.
