LEC (red) v SAI (orange) telemetry

SAI made a couple of errors through the lap but the 2 aren't far off.

I feel for Sainz a bit, he has a good car now and the pressure seems to be getting to him, I think he's desperate to try and beat Charles because he doesn't want to be seen as a number 2 and you can tell by how much the losses bother him

Thinking about the Red Bull ultra low drag strategy it seems as though they're betting all their chips on the Jeddah wildcard factor... red flags SCs and the like, where the stints won't go on long enough for the difference in tyre wear to show and the straight line speed will help them on the restarts, bold/smart strategy, we'll see how it works for them

The pressure is getting to him? We're not even two races into the season. Calm down.

Ofc like last season, even if they had no straight line advantage. Verstappen was put on soft, while Hamilton was on medium, they gambled.
I think the issue with this tactics is that Verstappen is 4th tomorrow and Perez on pole. They have everything to lose and not so much to win if there's a redflag/standing start... Hamilton/Bottas experienced it last year

I don't mean he's crumbling under the pressure, just that you can tell he's feeling the pressure already

Yes I think the race will be a lottery. SCs, red flags, any of those top 4 or even someone outside the top 4 can win it

I think it's the very first time in his career he can win race and fight for poles. Charles already fought for that alongside a 4 times WC. It's not an easy position. He's steady to me and quite close to Leclerc despite being unconfortable with the car.
Furthermore we all know Charles probably got more raw pace in qualy, let's see in race tomorrow

As much as i have seen Sainz perform over the seasons , i feel he is performing at his best . its not like he is shi*ting , always 2nd,3rd on the list . Dont get his constant complaining and nagging. his body language even at Bahrain podium was bad. Charle's performance really bothering him imo.

Is he actually uncomfortable or just making these things up ? imo he is doing good. he has never been the fastest sply on one lap anyways. Dont get his constant complain and nagging.

It's just 2 races guys, 2nd race hasn't even happened yet. We can't make any judgements for Lec or Sai now. You need at the least 5 races to even begin to form an idea about the drivers' perf this year.
So anything can happen yet. Who knows, mercs might even solve their problems in a few races. Hope they don't tho, merc team thread and car thread are too much fun nowadays

imo ppl aren't making this up. Sainz clearly seems rattled for what reason we dont know. his body language is not good even though its just 2 races.

Also to be honest, from a lec fan perspective this doesn't seem good. its almost like he isnt happy ( hates LEC for beating him ). im not saying thats exactly how it is but that's what it lookes like.

Very nice to see Ferrari can put in a lap on the first attempt in Saudi Arabia instead of needing 2 laps to heat them up.

Also Leclerc did a small race sim in FP3 with old softs and these are his times:

LAP 202 SOFT/12 Stint 4: 1:34.442
LAP 203 SOFT/13 Stint 4: 1:34.742
LAP 204 SOFT/14 Stint 4: 1:34.327
LAP 205 SOFT/15 Stint 4: 1:34.655
LAP 206 SOFT/16 Stint 4: 1:35.598
LAP 207 SOFT/10 Stint 5: 1:51.546

Hard to know how it compares with the stint from VER yesterday given the likely lower fuel load, but it's very quick, VER was going around at 1:35.5, PER 1:35.3
VER did his race sim on the mediums with an avg of 35.2/lap.
