Lewis during the PC on the latest FIA jewellery clampdown:

"I couldn't get anymore jewellery on today!

and causes we need to be focussed on."

Literally just watched his comments in the press conference on this.

A step backwards? On driver safety? Didn't he have similar comments about the Halo in 2016 when described them as looking 'ugly'? Yet its been proven to save lives.

I think the jewellery thing comes as part of the investigations and findings from the Grosjean accident where better gloves were trialled etc. From reading the report it makes perfect sense as to why they are doing it, irrespective of how long the rule has been noted down in the books for. (2005?).

I guess its the same rule for everyone, and I dont think the FIA would have brought further attention to it if it didnt have any benefits to driver safety. Im sure it was Mercedes who were wanting the rules to be better followed, now they dont want them to be followed when it affects them.

I see this actually forms part of the driver scrutineering process before on-track events. I wonder if any driver fails to adhere to that, or falsely filled in, they wont be allowed to race?

Lewis Hamilton turned up to the press conference wearing 3 watches, 8 rings, 4 necklaces and 2 earrings after the FIA outlined a new jewelry ban.

Obviously not considered the life-changing possibilities of crotch straps adjusting the ‘Prince Albert’ during a big head-on shunt…

OK guys, I've been following this sport since 2006. I was 9 back then. Now, I am 24. The amount of making show out of this sport really baffles me and I'm disgusted with it. The amount of show put on social media such as WTF1 channel and also show put into British commentary, just wow. And amount of work to portrait this weekend as a show not a race, jesus. I feel the drivers were far more serious back in 2000's or early 2010's. Look what McLaren guys are wearing outside of track. Comical :wtf: #-o :-? . I feel like a lot has changed since Liberty media took over. And media around the track even emphasizes this behavior. But why? Here in Croatia, most of fans really are mature people who don't fall for fake show, not kids. I believe it is also like that in other parts of Europe. Is it really that necessary? :-|
I just don't pay attention to any of this pathetic sideshow and mostly just follow actual on track sessions. Unfortunately that mlcaren stunt with those clothes somehow popped up on my twitter feed and left me with a bad feeling in my stomach for half a day  wtf even was that? Even Hamilton's apparels seem tame in comparison.

I think its rubbish that the rule is a personal attack towards Lewis. Im sure he wont be the only one who wears jewellery on the grid. IMHO, Lewis and Seb should know better about promoting driver safety, but I guess some drivers would rather bring none F1 stuff into the sport

Just ignore it and only tune in to the actual competition sessions. :)

If metal reaches its melting point, the driver has a lot more to worry about than a few piercings or rings.
