I thought that was Alonso...

Ferrari S3 now looking competitive.
This is very interesting, I figured Ferrari would have a much better S2, with RB running away in S3 with that long straight.

That was down to tow. Lec lost time in S3 on his soft run compared to the medium run. I think 2-3 tenths.

Ferrari fitted a new rear wing for FP2. Pretty much dead even between the two cars right now in both quali and race pace.

Alpine : 337kph for Alonso, 342kph for Ocon
They will be difficult to overtake if they can get track position on Sunday

Checo seems like practicing another red/yellow flag for Q3. It's wise for Max to stay ahead of him in qualifying runs.

Leclerc got a tow in his medium run, not on his soft run. His S3 was slower, obviously, but my understanding is that S3 times are comparable without the tow.

Also top speeds (without tow):
Leclerc: 329kph
Verstappen: 331kph

Both Alpha Tauri set their fastest S3 times during the longrun. Don't think I've seen that before

I didn't see any tow on S3 for his fastest. Are you sure this was LEC?

Verstappen was in the pits for 8 minutes before his longrun, basically same as everyone else, so can't see any indicition why it should be with "less fuel". Or did the team confirm that in an interview?

I didn't see any tow on S3 for his fastest. Are you sure this was LEC?
You have not read what he typed. The tow was on yellows, and it was mega. His red lap was faster overall, but not in sector 3 where he actually lost to his mega tow s3 on yellows but still having a faster lap overall.

Assumption is Perez was doing a race start sim with full fuel on mediums and verstappen was simulating a stint much later on in the race with maybe half a tank of fuel.

It is of course possible they were both doing race start sim, just on different tyres. In this case verstappen on soft is looking much better than perez on medium.

Could that he did not refuel while in the pits or something. I don't really pay attention to predictions based on practice times though.

I would say it's quite even between RB and Ferrari on the longer runs

Massive gap to the rest of the field - the biggest so far this season?
