The simplest solution would be to monitor the g-meters and impose limits on vertical acceleration and vertical jerk, forcing the teams with porpoising to raise their cars enough to avoid triggering porpoising.

Inerters or active suspension are unnecessary regulation changes.
Exactly! Just set limits on what acceleration they can expose their drivers to.

I don't understand all the discussion really. There are teams except Redbull maybe that have found solution to porpoising like MCLaren and this destroyed their performance but they put their head down trying to improve. And we have Mercedes moaning because they don't want to throw this wrong design under the bus, trying to run their car as low as possible and this gives them extreme porpoising.
They must find a solution or they can man up and change the overall design or they can roll back to 1st Barcelona design and continue to improve for 2023 season.
The porpoising it's a no problem if you sacrifice performance to reduce it. It's not the 1st time a team comes in a season with a completely wrong design.

Mercedes porpoising was just as bad with the Barcelona spec pods so 🤷🏼‍♂️

From the banning of fric, das, party modes and the downforce restrictions of 2021 it was evident that the fia was intent on stopping the merc dominance. Anyone that saw that differently is simply blind or intentionally disregarding facts.
This is 100% accurate.

In terms of 2022 though I'd say the poor performance so far is more about them getting some fundamentals wrong though. As in, everybody had to start with a clean slate and there was as much chance they would be 1 second ahead of the front than 1 second behind.

Good idea.

Though I wonder if it really is such a big health issue/risk for the driver(s), what does it say about the team when it's willing to let them (make them?) drive with such a setup/car. Either the issue is not as bad as some make it out to be or the team(s) do not care about the safety of their drivers. Taking into account how much drivers are paid I highly doubt the latter.

Translation: Pirelli has decided to increase rear pressures by 1 psi

They go from 21.5 to 22.5

This adjustment helps protect the most stressed tires from prolonged porpoising

Won't that make the porposing worse?

Pirelli just want to bolster the tyre reliability; fixing the bouncing isn’t their remit really

Yup, that’s my guess too. It is interesting that Pirelli are having to adjust on-the-fly to counteract the bouncing; might see this again at Silverstone with the piss poor surfacing there.

Oh poetic justice how sweet you are...

After 7-8 years of Merc fans unapologetically claiming everyone needs to just hope their team can build a better engine to be competitive...I happily say to Merc fans without any apology, all you can do is hope Merc builds a better suspension, so you’ll be competitive. If they don’t, bummer-bob, suck it up, and nobody cares.

Great to see Russell still handing out the beat downs on his team mate. 😃👍
Only, their chassis was probably the best out there too. I mean it's fine to kick a team when it's down because you don't like their domination. But it's actually just a reflection of you and the opposition when you really think about it, right?

I think lots of notes are being kept for future use in lots of notebooks.

Rear tyre pressures increased by 1 PSI over night. Do we think that advantages redbull? Ferrari clearly had superior traction in S2, this could hamstring that a bit?
