Uh? This td is meant to push merc down. Will it have the desired effect is still unknown but i struggle to see how this cannot be viewed as the fia saying fu to mercs complaints.
Will be very interesting to see who actually benefits or not.

Nobody asked Mercedes to make a bad car and complain to FIA. Mercedes are themselves to blame for this spiral downwards as they created this scene in Baku and pushed FIA to come out with this directive. They should be careful in putting such a show again.Hammerfist wrote: β17 Jun 2022, 01:46Uh? This td is meant to push merc down. You keep ignoring the fact that this is a widespread problem and not just merc. Even sergio perez has complained. And some posts above have noted that this directive might hurt rbr more. So be careful what you so wish for.Ryar wrote: β17 Jun 2022, 02:47Nobody asked Mercedes to make a bad car and complain to FIA. Yet, Max didn't complain and neither Redbull team is complaining. If you see carefully, other than Mercedes drivers, it's only the No. 2 drivers of Redbull, Ferrari and McLaren complaining. Not the No. 1 drivers and their teams. Those No. 2 drivers also have the option of raising the ride height to suit their physical comfort. Either ways, Baku was extreme track and I won't be surprised if that noise from other teams dying down in a couple of races.Hammerfist wrote: β17 Jun 2022, 03:23You keep ignoring the fact that this is a widespread problem and not just merc. Thats just bs. Gasly and bottas have complained and they are not number 2s. And norris imo said what he said because he loves being a macho d1ck. Even though mclaren is supposed to be one of the best, if you get to ride onboard either mckaren in f1tv it sounds and looks awful hitting the ground constantly. Again, its a widespread problem.Ryar wrote: β17 Jun 2022, 03:31Yet, Max didn't complain and neither Redbull team is complaining. Nah, it's not about pushing Merc down, it's about protecting drivers from huge & sustained gforce impacts caused by porpoising (either by driverchoice or teamchoice); which is actually exactly as desired. Silly ofcourse because teams could do this very easily by themselves (see McL). Not doing so within Merc is basically Toto telling Rus/Ham STFU and drive that dog of a car!Hammerfist wrote: β17 Jun 2022, 01:46Uh? This td is meant to push merc down. Even if so, how could this be solved in a more fair way than setting the boucing limit equally for everyone ?Hammerfist wrote: β17 Jun 2022, 03:23You keep ignoring the fact that this is a widespread problem and not just merc.
Anyway, FIA seems to have made a decision as wished by those drivers and the complaining drivers should be happy that their teams now have to provide them settings in line with their comfort. I don't understand the furore on that.Hammerfist wrote: β17 Jun 2022, 03:44Thats just bs. Gasly and bottas have complained and they are not number 2s. I don't think it will. What it might do is make Red Bull move even further ahead since they are already running at higher ride heights then Ferrari and Mercedes. The only time I saw Red Bull suffering from anything that could be called porpoising was at Miami which I think had something to do with the track surface and it's patchwork asphalt.
As long as it's not hitting the ground, there is no issue. So yes, the Red Bull are in clear.Juzh wrote: β17 Jun 2022, 00:05People think red bull is in the clear, but they are very obviously porpoising similarly to other teams, they just don't hit the ground while doing so. Below is mercedes/RB/ferrari comparison from baku.
I think it's anyone's guess as to who comes out on top from this shitshow, even mercedes could benefit in some way given how gruesome pile of crap this new technical directive is. Expect DSQ, protests and counter-protests after the race.
Are we talking about the qualifying engine mode ban from a few years ago pushed for by Honda because they really didn't have any Q3 modes?
That was weird one isn't it? FIA showing they were dumb for such a long time that they couldn't figure, the engine mode change contravene parc ferme. Some teams made merry in the duration.
