Alonso doesnt care about anyone's championship. He wanted Max to win last year to prevent LH from getting 8. I am sure he wants to preven Max from getting 2 to equal him. Max could also be approaching his win count. So Alonso will do his best to win this race. If anything he would be supporting Sainz to win if he cannot.
yup, sounds about the right when it comes to Alonso''s motivation]
or he is going to do a 2007 canada start
Yes. His first front row in 10 years.. If he is ever going to win in F-1 again, now is his best chance. The Alpine is not slow around this track. If it can go on the front row, it's fast enough in Alonso's eyes.
Some are underestimate Alonso's ego and self determination. He will fight to the death to win this race.
Yes it is Max who needs to be careful here, he just have to look at the bigger picture and let Alonso through if he makes a move. However, Max also has similar egos, it should be fun

So Alonso will fight a dominant RBR, yup not happening, that car is way ahead of the others.
If only verstappen would break down, we would have a race on our hands with Alonso vs merc and sainz, with perez and leclerc coming through the pack.

Top 6 this race: (safety car might change this order)
  • verstappen
    sainz
    perez
    leclerc
    hamilton
    russel
Mercedes AMG + Hamilton => dreamteam!

Much ado about nothing.

There's nothing the alpine can do better than the red bull, and same goes for Alonso vs. Max. This includes the start. So I don't quite see how nando is gonna mess with MV. Max has to botch the start first, but I don't quite see that happening.

I also do not see Max at the front in the end in any case. The chance for a T1 incident or a DNF is there, it is his race to loose.
But the Alpine is not in the league of Merc either he will do some glory laps upat the front and then vanish before the stops. If Max and Carlos are in trouble it's a race of Merc against charging Checo and Charles.

If max is more mature and smart than before, he know that there is absolutely no point to fight hard on T1. He will overtake Alpine anyway with ease.

Merc doesn't have the pace to fight perez or leclerc, they are way too slow.

Perez has yet to show any kind of pace this weekend. It could come up in the race but it's far from certain.

Yesterday's entire team bosses' meeting with the Oscar-winning role of Toto Wolff fighting for the health of the drivers was recorded by Netflix cameras. The villains were to be played by Mattia Binotto and Christian Horner. #F1pl #EchaPadoku
Theres a meme to be made there about Toto, toys, a pram, a dummy, and CH and Binotto being the 'parents'

Lewis hasnt done anything notable in the wet? Are you actually serious? Yet max is vying for the top catagory lol what a joke those 2 statements are
I mean he hasn’t though? To say he classes it as one of his favourites, what has he done in the wet the last 2 seasons?
Ermm. Not sure if you are joking or partied a bit tok much last night.
This is not even a debate though.

I think we should look back at Alonso and not drift over to the G-man. Alonso wet weather performances have been highly varied, and he has some amazing wins but not consistently amazing. He has never really ben mentioned as a wet weather master snd rightfully so.

Jenson, Lewis, MSC, Senna and.... Sometimes Vettel.. Max has like three great races but needs a longer career to judge. But Alonso... You can count on one hand his great wet races.
probably both hands aren't enough:
Brazil 2003
Hungary, Chine 2006
Nurburgring 2007
Korea 2010
Silverstone 2011
Sepang 2012
Hungary 2014

For me clear winner is Button, Schumacher and Hamilton had dominant cars for too long.

Same with the both the Mercs too then? One Red Bull has been dominant through FP and Quali. I think the race will come to Checo. Guarantee Merc wont be a issue for Perez

I checked that Alonso shared the same starting row with Verstappen for the first time in his career.... With Jos in the 2001 San Marino GP - in his fourth appearance he took P18 behind the wheel of the Minardi, and Max's dad in the Arrows was 0.8sec quicker. Max was three and a half years old at the time.

I would just like to add a race start is a race start. It all depends who gets good traction. In Baku Max was very quick but stuck behind Leclerc, as was Perez, who had free space and thus took the lead. But if Alo gets a good reaction/traction he just might be in front. You never know with a start how they will play out. Max has been plenty carefull also last year.

Verstappen only has one opponent (as Perez isn't allowed to race him) and he starts 19th + Ver has the dominant car.
If he doesn't win today, he might as well go golfing or something.
