If Sainz couldn't overtake Max with 5 laps fresher tyres, then Max surly would have overtook him with far more fresher tyres.Spoutnik wrote:Without the SC Sainz would've won I think !

I'm not sure, tyres more or less equaled out after a while. Without the SC, there would have been a chance for Sainz to keep P1
I know, was a bit of a tongue in cheek questionShrieker wrote: ↑19 Jun 2022, 21:46Hamilton has had so much better pace than him in some of the races, but some random stuff meant he finished ahead of Lewis, and is some cases, much further ahead. Hamilton annihilated him on race pace in Barcelona. Matched him in Jeddah despite being on much older tires.
I said that Charles was absolutely slingshotting out the hairpin, Sainz seemed to be missing a bit edge. Max even had better traction than the Ferrari.jz11 wrote: ↑19 Jun 2022, 21:53would be interesting to see if someone can put together a comparison between Max, Carlos and Leclair on the hairpin, it looked like Max is taking a tidier line, and Carlos turning in sooner, maybe the dirty air, maybe something else, but the difference was noticeable, didn't see much of Charles there from the birds eye view
He didn't pit and had super old tyresgraham.reeds wrote: ↑19 Jun 2022, 21:46But he was faster than last place and the safety car would of put him right on the back of Latifi, et al.
Max had that line well covered. Sticking in the middle to 1/3 right hand side where the pass would have had to be made. Given the 1 move, it would have had to be a good old switch-a-roo from sainz to get up the inside.
I don't think it's faking an overtake, its more offsetting the cars for better braking performance
Alonso had pretty good pace until team f* him and his strategy.jz11 wrote: ↑19 Jun 2022, 21:53would be interesting to see if someone can put together a comparison between Max, Carlos and Leclair on the hairpin, it looked like Max is taking a tidier line, and Carlos turning in sooner, maybe the dirty air, maybe something else, but the difference was noticeable, didn't see much of Charles there from the birds eye view
anyway, great drive by Max, well deserved win
and Alpines were probably not quite set up for the dry, hence them being so fast in the wet and then not quite there during the race
