I suspect the upgrade plans are compromised by 1) the multitude of crashes and incidents Sainz had at the start of the year and
2) the fact that they had to spend money redesigning and producing their rear wing specs to fix the DRS problem.
Seconding Xyz22 there. Surely not how you described it.
The crashes cost some money, but not as much as people seem to think. Teams already before the season starts define a certain budget for crashes alone and Ferrari have not had that many expensive crashes. Even a total write off would cost “only” around a million. If any, it would be towards the end of the season a team would start making changes to their upgrade program.
As for the rear wings, you can be sure of Ferrari having planned them way before. All teams have brought different rear wing specs, obviously.
