Was any technical regulations regarding the roll hoop changed when the halo came in? Looks like it collapsed - which is scary.

Gasley going for a space that wasn't there
Space was there and then Russell chose to close it.
George was in front, closing, by the time Gasley there was no gap.

Interesting to note that the AR is the only car with a blade style roll hoop, I wonder if that was a factor?

Anyway, I find the whole GR restart thing midly amusing. The RB mechanic was in the FIA delegates ear the whole time so the FIA guy was just not letting it off the back of the truck. Like fair play if it's in the rules, but I would have thought the FIA guy would just let them do it and issue a penalty or black flag. But instead he was literally telling them "No don't take it off".

I watched that discussion with GR and Jo Bauer and never seen and RB mechanics/team with them.

Irrespective, GR wouldnt be allowed to continue due to receiving outside assistance

That roll hoop is gone

Halo saves the day..

Now this is something to think about. Roll hoop will need more meat to whitstand impacts like this.
If i would get the money to start my own F1 team, i would revive Arrows

All on mediums now. Shame, would have been interesting.

Only difference now being Verstappen has used 2 compounds now.

He was standing right next to him as the truck came in. And yeah I get the rule, but taking the car back to the garage doesn't mean they are starting the race. For whatever reason they decided to police it there and then, rather than let them have the car and argue it later.

Max now on mediums.

I dont think he has to pit for a differing compound so could run 2x mediums if they last that long

Extremely clear from Gasly's onboard that he was a lot more than just significantly alongside. I don't agree with your assessment that there was no space. There was heaps. Until George started closing it, but by then Gasly was firmly in there.

Weight saving compromising the integrity maybe? Not sure it’s the roll hoop per se, it just looks like the whole top section sheared off ie. the weakness was elsewhere

Hia argument was that I instructed the marshals to not touch the car and leave it there. He was returning to the pits for info on how to get the car restarted. And to his annoyance the car appeared on the back of a truck.

So I can see where the argument came from, they would have restarted and got back if the car wasnt touched by marshals.

Not the marshals fault of course, but the car was forcibly taken back to the pits
