if i remember correctly, i think the FIA attribute a standard cost for specific services based on an agreed market rate. this is why they've set up the new Costs Commission to decide on these details.

basically the FIA is expecting teams to constantly be in contact with the CC proving that they are keeping within the budget cap with each of their expenses
(in the same way as teams currently seek confirmation on new innovations with the FIA).

I think the real question is... do they have any idea either?
• Engine costs – In order to attract manufacturer owned teams to take up the cost capping option, the FIA have decided to exclude engine costs for 2010 (only)

guess we got our answer

considering no major updates compared to the competition, will mcl fall back this coming weekend? Or can they remain the 4th force?

It will depend a lot on how much the new interim diffuser will give as an advantage, in combination with the new front wing. But I'm afraid it's not going to be enough compared to what let's say ferrari brings to barca...

Any news on monaco or turkey updates, I read that they had some for those races but I don't know how much or how heavy (minor - major). So any news?

btw: It's a shame that mcl couldn't get the car up to speed as they thought in melbourne ("in spain we can go for victories again"). If the car cannot win races by turkey, than lewis' title defence is done for the season.

aero guys...

does air naturally want to disperse?

ie if a channel was straight, but had flexible ends that could go left and right, what would happen at speed? would the channel stay open, remain closed, or open more?

the vanes on the wing there made me wonder

If you are going straight, they will remain straight - the net lift force is zero.

Do you mean the slots on the wing's endplates?

I guess you mean the vanes under the front wing?

My guess is that they work as a diffuser and streighten the airflow.

Also i think they increase donwfroce under jaw and reduce the influence of the spinning wheels.

Hamilton says the car is not much better than it was in Bahrain. He said he drove at the limit in Practice... he only got 13th... :wtf: lets hope the team figures something out for tomorrow.

It seems Hamilton is running the interim diffuser used in Bahrain, while Kovalainen is running a new version. It seems they finally opened it up a bit more, but those photos are not conclusive.

It shows how small is the complete system, a superb piece of engineering :)
Sorry for being late to the party, but I haven't seen (sorry if I missed it) anybody comment on why the TV KERS display for McLaren never shows a full battery. Maybe the battery is so small & light because the capacity is much less than the maximum 400kJ allowed.

They can still store/release the maximum 400kJ per lap, just not at one go.
