Ferrari F1-75

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

So why couldn't Leclerc reverse? Is it another defect of the car?
From what I heard the throttle was broken.

As he crashed it sounds like the car was idling much higher than the normal F1 rpm idle (like throttle was stuck at 10% or something), After he mentioned the throttle , his engineer said "ok its a 0% now" as if it wasn't going back to 0 to allow it to engage reverse.

Hello all, sorry for my ignorance, but when I see this kind of image from below the floor, I wonder. the floor inlet sends more air to the outside of the car than to the venturi tunnels. doesn't that create a lot of positive lift on the middle of the car?
sorry for my poor english

Ferrari made a habit of showing their new floor to everyone right after bolting it on.

Binotto said post-race and it's obvious from the onboards that Charles' references to throttle were about trying to get out of the wall in reverse (but the nose was stuck). The throttle issue from Austria did not return

Did they sculpt the red area so that created a front facing step (red arrow) that looks like the RB one?
Left pic = Imola (AMuS) - right = French GP @DANIELEALOFAN
The mini diffusers at the boat tail are still there but not very visible, or not as agressive ?

Great comparison angles, as expected this is a completely new floor altogether. They did what RB did with the step (red arrows), using it to narrow down the keel to let more air to the floor, then introduce a hard outward flick to help run the air outwards to the throat. The chassis department is doing the best job on the grid, the car is perfect in all conditions.
I agree with your last statement. Best chassis, best car overall. What a beast that thing is. Even more of a pity that they can’t put everything together and win the races. But that’s a different story.

Is there a unique design on that new floor or is it their old ideas mixed with RB’s?

You can clearly hear the bouncing on the straights on on-board videos.
Touching the ground isn't a problem when it's at the low frequency Ferrari has currently.

AFAIK, if the underbody inlet had no fences like that, it would create a lot of lift indeed. That's where the fences come in handy, they are like wings placed vertically so they will create suction behind them (behind the last fence, the inboard one) so they create local downforce. And that high suction area (purple below) will pull air inside the ventury tunnels.
+ the fences will create vortices along the tunnel that reduces the pressure even more

Stretched one image to hell and back to make it fit the other ... at the back it looks straighter compared to the rounded shape it had previously? Just left of the plank at the rear/bottom where the (no longer present?) side-mini-diffuser used to be

Image

edit: Here's the area, not easy to make sense of the shape, looks like an indentation or at least several steps judging by the shadows and the bit in blue?

I think there are several solutions from other cars, packed together in a unique way. This new stepped inlet was actually something Mercedes did with their launch-spec.

It's just different reflections and a curvature between vertical and horizontal surfaces. I don't think there would be any benefit of introducing a step there.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

Yeah I knew it wasn't a repeat of the Austria issue. I assumed it was fully broken.
Anyway turns out, at least from reading this article and they directly quote Binotto and Leclerc, that it was a clutch issue.

There is a safety mechanism/procedure that a driver has to follow in order to engage reverse. Apparently, this procedure either was not followed or it didn't work. But it's not clear what is the case.
