Considering how VW AG is definitely going to join the sport for over a decade by now, I am extremely doubtful about it.SmallSoldier wrote: ↑27 Jul 2022, 21:20Porsche buying 50% of the Team seems well advanced and according to Karun, there could be an official announcement next week before the summer break:

If it’s not for the F1 Team, why else would the deal be for?… Especially after Porsche has made clear the intention to join F1?wesley123 wrote: ↑28 Jul 2022, 17:40Considering how VW AG is definitely going to join the sport for over a decade by now, I am extremely doubtful about it.SmallSoldier wrote: ↑27 Jul 2022, 21:20Porsche buying 50% of the Team seems well advanced and according to Karun, there could be an official announcement next week before the summer break:

Also, they all talk about Red Bull Technologies, and I have not found anything that would list Red Bull Racing as a subsidiary, all I found is that they are owned by Red Bull GmbH.
So apart from the doubt because of VW AG's history with not announcing things, the deal described doesn't even necessarily refer to the F1 team.
The technology arm. It's not entirely strange or unreasonable that a company would buy a subsidiary of another company. For example Williams sold their hybrid arm quite a while ago, and in the past McLaren sold off parts of their company to an outside company.SmallSoldier wrote: ↑28 Jul 2022, 17:46If it’s not for the F1 Team, why else would the deal be for?…
As far as I'm aware it was little more than an interview with an opinion piece, where it was the CEO's opinion that joining would be a good idea.Especially after Porsche has made clear the intention to join F1?
Problem here is that this is far beyond short term by now. Red Bull-Porsche rumors have been going around for like a year by now.Let’s wait and see, apparently an announcement should be done in the short term… We will know by then
That’s the biggest difference… In the past, there were nothing but rumors… Today is tangible evidence or a deal been penned by both parties.wesley123 wrote: ↑28 Jul 2022, 18:03The technology arm. A part that also confuses me is that generally the consensus has been that Red Bull would be fine with selling off Alpha Tauri, yet what news sources imply is that this deal would mean anything but AT.
And rumors also include Audi, which now will apparently buy Sauber instead of McLaren(because why not). Seems fairly strange to spend quite a significant amount of money to battle in-house, as their markets do overlap quite a bit.
Just imagine Porsche spending a single cent to have Porsche plastic stickers plastered on any other engine make valve covers. Some people imagination knows no bonds.ringo wrote: ↑31 Jul 2022, 06:48You could be right. Maybe Porsche wants to build its own engine, but redbull doesnt want the risk and rather use the honda engine and wear porsche stickers on the car similiar to that Tag Heur branded renault.
Tricky! Im not sure sure how they will work this out. Redbull should just ditch the honda unit and dive in fully with Porsche.
That's why they created a separate company called RBPT2026. Was mentioned a few pages back by chrisc90.
If the engine made by RBR/Porsche is not the one used in the car, they are not limited to testing are they?ringo wrote: ↑31 Jul 2022, 06:48You could be right. The biggest thing RBPT does is put its sticker on the car. The PU is built and maintained by Honda in Japan.
