Binotto says they did not have the car to succeed.
I have to disagree with Binotto here, I am sure given the proper tyres Leclerc had the pace to win; yes sure the Ferrari didn't have the expected pace advantage over Mercs or RB but they sure as hell had the pace to challenge for a win or hell at least a podium.

Ferrari's performance this season has shown that a fast car doesn't automatically mean you can win!

during several weeks here was discussed
wrong strategies!!!!
SAI is not good!!!!!
etc etc
the fact is that SAI was basically on the same tires that VER
yellows and reds
reds and yellows
and
SAI was 14 sec behind even with a Max 360!!!!!
can we accept that RB is a betetr car?
can we undestand that eventually MB will be in pos 2 in constructors?
hope we "technicalf1" fans/users ,think and act more than engineers than fans
You're being reactionary. Sainz was very quick in Austria and went from 19th to 3rd the last race.

Today was a bad race for him but "not good" is not an accurate statement.
please take out your Fans position and listen to those that Know
binotto just said "it was the car"!!!!
and I am going to add the car does not deliver in cold temperatures
if we are fans of technicalf1 we should understand that cars and tires are very sensitive to Temps.
dont get "biased" by the British press they have to sell their product in the UK

You had Russell for example on soft tire pace and Magnussen, Ocon, Alonso for hard tire comparison.

Yet you make that BS decision to pull your leader with a comfortable margin, to put for BS tires? Fire the idiot who continues making these calls.
Amazing how these clowns can shoot themselves on their foot!
I think they missed their foot and took their nuts off

Leclerc pit wall must be changed momentarilly.
At Red Bull, Hannah Schmitz (RB chief strategist who is an engineer who is on the pitwall), and her team back at base, calls the strategy for both cars AFAIK. Not just the pit strategies, but when they each leave the pit garage in qualifying and all those kinds of things.

I would presume, similarly, that the same strategist and strategy team is similarly in charge of both Ferrari drivers -- namely Iñaki Rueda, Ferrari strategy director who is also an engineer. I don't think any of the teams operate where the two cars are allowed to operate their strategy independently, for the reason of the lack of coordination (and trying to undercut/overcut each other and not following proper etiquette) that would produce.

It does seem that the Ferrari strategy team is relatively bad at strategy and that Sainz is more willing to overrule illogical pit calls on the radio than Leclerc is. It would seem that overhauling the strategy operation could be a good idea? :?:

As with Red Bull, the Ferrari strategy team is likely a fully fledged department of the racing team with tens of engineers running statistical models etc, and perhaps leadership under a different chief strategist with different ideology and processes could be helpful?

No doubt. I agree that he could've won given a better strategy call. But it shouldn't have been close in the first place.

He said Leclerc not being able to pass Perez showed that there was an issue.

you cant conclude that mate... because other team RB / Mercedes arent that bad with strategy . obviously even with faster car you need to perform.

imagine this is Mercedes car , toto running this team and leclerc driving it...how many of them would have they won, i can see atleast 3 races more. and may be top in standing least 1 of them.

Yea, after you demote guy from 1st to 6th and pit him twice in 10 laps, maybe he wont really drive like madman to get from 6th to 5th. Hard to say whats real reason for that last stint pace, but they had plenty of it on M (at least Leclerc)

after this ... anyone who is working on that strategy thing for Ferrari should have some shame. some shame ffs....
Not sure how the tires get chosen but Ferrari had only 1 set of Mediums and 1 set of hards like everyone but HAM, Max, Per and Gas that had 2 sets of mediums, 1 used and 1 set of hard. So the strategies where a bit locked in from before the race.
They did not only have one set of Mediums. What you’re not taking into account is that Ferrari started the race on new Mediums. Then they put on the second set of new Mediums at their first pit stop. After that they obviously had to go for Softs or Hards as per regulations.

What they did shockingly wrong was to pit Charles way too early and give him the horrendous Hards instead of going longer on the Mediums - which still were in a good shape - to eventually pit for Softs.

Wrong.

Wrong. Ferraris had 2 sets of mediums

No. Leclerk had only 1 set of mediums left for the race. No matter what Formula1.com says. Its wrong. It was widely reported by almost every other source observing tyre use of the teams.

both Sainz and binotto saying - car had no pace ,

yet Charles overtook Russell and had pulled a 6s advantage on Russell and 10s advantage on Max. Was on course for a win How ?

or is its that Sainz is trying to hide his average performance and binotto is trying to hide his stupid strategy team ( he didn't wnat to sh*t on them in open )
