Why hasn't the 2022 to 2023 slilly season thread opened yet? We are right in the thick of it.

Why not start the thread yourself? No need to wait for someone else to do it. =D>

I find it interesting that there has been no comment yet from Alpine, such as the usual 'mutual agreement, wish Fernando well in the future, we look forward to exciting new challenges' etc.

I suspect that this has caught Alpine a bit by surprise, at least in the timing.

I prefer the name of this thread, can the mods just add (2023) to the end please?

I just tried to edit the title, but there is no option.

ImageIs this really how a professional team operates? Just faking an announcement without any acknowledgment/response from its driver or his manager? Yikes this feels like short term glory for long term embarrassment

I suspect that Alpine may well have a contract, but money talks and contracts walk in F1! If Mclaren want him bad enough then it will happen, if they don't then the storm in a teacup will be over.

But if we see another Palou situation develop then I agree with Merc!

What a silly drama.

That specsavers tweet is savage! haha!

Piastri should be jumping at the chance TBH. Even getting a seat in F1 is a huge feat and if Alpine are offering it, I would be jumping at it! If he's waiting on a seat at McLaren, then Norris aint going anywhere....and Danny is signed up, unless he gets sacked, but for McLaren, having someone with experience is better than someone with no F1 experience.

Is it though?… Norris is leading and carrying the Team… He has taken the defacto #1 driver spot at McLaren and by the time Piastri joins he will have 4 seasons in Formula 1, which is plenty of time to stop considering him a “rookie”.

With Norris and Piastri, McLaren could have a young / strong pairing for the foreseeable future… Similar to Lando / Carlos a couple seasons ago.
