So long as AM carry on near the rear of the grid, no one is likely to spend too much time protesting, unlike with DAS. If the end plate had been brought to the grid by one of the team near the front, there would have been a lot more lobbying. Such is F1 politics.

Williams had their mirror removed in 2020.
Williams 2019 mirror issue was caused by other teams raising it as an issue following pre-season testing. The FIA didn't just say "no" out of the blue.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Your previous comment was that no one cares about legality of back marker cars. I pointed out the '19 Williams in response.

"Just a fan" said that nobody cares out the legaility of backmarker team's cars, insinuating that the rear wing of AMR would be not be legal if it was a front running team. AC3 said that isn't tru, they cared about the mirrors of the 2019 williams.

Aston Martin is smart they consulted with the FIA throughout its development it’s unlikely to get banned next year.
However, Aston Martin performance director Tom McCullough has revealed that as well as the FIA being happy with the regulatory aspect of the design, it was also satisfied that the concept did not scupper the intent of the rules to help the racing.

Some interesting tidbits about the cost cap dictating the wing usage for this year and 2023 developments..
While the mixed weather conditions over the Hungary weekend meant the team did not get as much of an understanding of its potential as it would have liked, Aston Martin is looking to roll out the wing solution at other races later in the campaign.

But although the design brings more downforce without compromising drag, Aston Martin is not sure it will be able to use it at all races.

That is because the team is having to carefully balance its spending this year as it nudges close to the cost cap – so it may not be able to revamp all the different wings it has for variations in downforce levels.
Aston Martin performance director Tom McCullough said: “The cost cap is the thing there.

“We have a whole suite of wings, which we've already made. A lot of them we've used already through all the different efficiencies of the circuit, so to then go and remake those, it's just a bang for buck question.”

McCullough was clear that the new rear wing concept was not just for high downforce tracks, as it would work elsewhere as there was no compromises in terms of it adding drag to the car.

“It is an efficiency gain,” he said. “It can be used to varying degrees on different wings, so it's just a cost cap thing for us.”

McCullough said his team was at a state now where good ideas in the windtunnel were now only likely to be introduced on the 2023 car, because it was too expensive to bring them to the current challenger.

“We are in to the development of the 2023 car now,” he said. “If you think of it as larger bits, take as an example a wing, whether it's a front wing, or a nose, you could do a crash test, you could do a different philosophy, but that's a lot of money to do. You might as well wait.

With the knowledge that they ideally wanted to change all there rear wings (budget cap allowing) to be variations of the Hungary wing for efficiency gains I still find that one more interesting.

I’d like to see what it would have done to the look of this Monza spec wing which looks like an extreme low drag solution but without the benefits of the Hungary wing. It must have been produced before it surely.
