Now that this saga has aged, do people still despise Alpine for their position that Piastri has no loyalty?
No despise for Alpine… Otmar though? Completely different question…
People will dispise Alpine fore saying that and other people will dispise Piastri for trying to leave. What does that change ?
The Loyality thing is true about Piastri, who cares? He's doing what he thinks is best for himself. If you care, you're naive.
I was just answering the question…
I agree regarding Piastri… The loyalty thing for me is way overplayed, there is no “loyalty” in F1… Not from the Teams or from the Drivers… Both are going to do what is best for them, regardless of the other party… It’s a business, where at the end of the day money, results and contracts are all that matter.
Alpine talks like if they rescued Piastri from obscurity and made him who he is today… His talent is what made that happen… At the end, we will find out what happens next week and what the contracts actually say… And if Alpine can keep Piastri, they will and Piastri will be ultimately happy to race for them… (Just as they would be happy to have Daniel back, even though he slapped them in the face a couple of seasons ago… Or how McLaren was happy to have Alonso back after he left them in very bad terms)… That’s why Otmar is in my opinion is damaging Alpine, he is now talking about the individual (saying that Piastri lacks integrity) instead of simply discussing the contract / situation or better yet simply staying quiet until things are resolved at the CRB
