They haven’t checked the floor legality and plank wear yet, so who knows.

Ferrari and Red Bull are too much in sync, with pace, pit and tire strategy, taking drivetrain changes, they appear they just want stay far from Mercedes, just do the opposite of whatever they do.

Good on them but the sport is too polarized. Coverage only makes it worse. The sport clearly is apprehensive about Audi and Porsche joining and won’t even let Andretti have a shot. It’s a crap show right now.
I bet you didn't have an issue with 'polarization' in F1 between 2014 and 2020?

Pole for sainz
P3 for Alonso
i want both on podium
Alonso, if he sets it up right, will have a huge tow down the kemmel straight. Will be fun to watch tomorrow. I just hope there is no rain.
La Source and Les Combes are going to be key on lap 1. Getting through the first turn without incident and then getting a tow and attacking in to Les Combes means there are two opportunities for drivers to trip over each other at the start.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

a bit of a clumsy move be Ferrari there, but didn't change anything at all for Leclerc. If at all, he is even in a better position than he would have been with a new tyre run, as he now has the same sets available for tomorrow as Verstappen
But did he get a used set? I thought I saw a new set, might that have been his last, or an extra set they wanted for the race?
He was on new set, but maybe it wasn't his last one? Then again, they did 2 runs in Q2 right? So maybe it was the last one.

I did, but it’s worse now. Oh you think I like Mercedes? No, they have made it worse. Totto talking too much trash.

One time I had a guy like that in my team, and every time he started to talk trash he himself immediately played much worse. We all knew it.

This year is a deinifetely a boring one. I have lost interest in lots of things. The title fight is basically done. The upgrades are few. There is no frictions between any teams or any drivers for that matter. No scandals or bigpolitics, no stwarding controversy. Just a mundane year. Just watching to see it merces can steal 2nd in WCC if Ferrari continue tripping over themselves.

It is obvious that here 2nd place is better than 1st. Perez is going to overtake Sainz through Kemmel with ease.
As long as he doesn't follow too closely through Eau Rouge.
Sure but this is what differ smart drivers from naive one ;)

Bit odd considering the 7 years of dominance in the hybrid era?

That ultimate pace of Max in the RB. Just destroyed his team mate and everyone else. And it didn’t even look like he was pushing to the limits. What a stellar car/driver/team combo at the moment
He also had no slipstream worth talking about at almost 10s gap, despite what unusually clueless commentators on f1tv would have you believe. I like palmer & co but this time they dropped the ball, collins even went out of his way blaming verstappen himself deciding not to tow perez  what a buffoon. In general on this track you'll lose more in sector 2 with dirty air than you will gain by being close to someone in sector 1 (unless they jump out of the way at the end of kemmel straight leclerc and alpine style).

That said Leclerc really did sainz a solid with that perfect slipstream on first run (eventual pole lap as it turned out). Sainz had 345 km/h top speed, higher even than perez at 342 km/h and verstappen at 340 km/h. Without that slipstream Perez beats Sainz with ease. Honestly I don't know why RB decided not to tow Perez on his second run. It seems they never considered it at all because Verstappen said imediately after setting his fastest lap in Q3 that he wants additional 2 or 3 clicks on the front wing (still dialling out understeer), so he expected to run again, only to then be called off. Strange.

verstappen's fastest Q3 lap 1:43.665

some puohon apex speeds
sainz 289 km/h
alonso 286 km/h
verstappen 284 km/h
russell 281 km/h
hamilton 280 km/h
perez 279 km/h

If he makes it stick, he’ll then immediately get swallowed up by PER & SAI. And once he loses DRS, he’ll again get swallowed up by the Mercs. His best bet is to settle into the gap hopefully created by S1 king - ALB, who should be able to make it hard for the trailing pack down the straight.

How will Leclerc get passed Vestappen, I just don’t see it, Red Bull is too smart to let Sainz pit early to block Max, just don’t see anyway here.

I don’t even think it’s wise to back LEC. SAI has found good speed on single-lap, although LEC holds the adv on race pace. Still, I believe SAI is just more likely to get the favourable result, he thinks for himself and can attenuate the strategy silliness from the cockpit.

They were a gazillion times more boring with just 1 team being 1,8 second in front. I think this is the first time Max takes a pole with this kind of a difference? (Even if it is a long track, making it relatively bigger).
