Last year Hamilton pitted for fastest lap hence the 20s gap. It was actually a very closely fought race (and would've been exciting, had overtaking been possible)
How does that work when the DRS closes when you touch the brakes?BlueCheetah66 wrote: ↑30 Aug 2022, 11:24Apparently, they are going to extend the DRS zone so that it includes the banking. Will be interesting to see by which session they change it back on safety concerns
I believe they should be able to go through the banking flat unless I'm mistaken.chrisc90 wrote: ↑30 Aug 2022, 11:27How does that work when the DRS closes when you touch the brakes?BlueCheetah66 wrote: ↑30 Aug 2022, 11:24Apparently, they are going to extend the DRS zone so that it includes the banking. I presume drivers can delay opening the DRS rather than opening it instantly at the line?
Yes they were flat out through there last year easilyBlueCheetah66 wrote: ↑30 Aug 2022, 11:34I believe they should be able to go through the banking flat unless I'm mistaken.chrisc90 wrote: ↑30 Aug 2022, 11:27How does that work when the DRS closes when you touch the brakes?BlueCheetah66 wrote: ↑30 Aug 2022, 11:24Apparently, they are going to extend the DRS zone so that it includes the banking. Hungenholz was also a hobby winemaker, and even had wine named 'Hugenholz bocht', which is a Dutch joke like a drink which is very untasty, but also the dutch word for corner.vorticism wrote: ↑29 Aug 2022, 21:46A great track with narrows providing a good sense of speed. Hugenholtz corner, the banked turn 3, is named after John/Hans Hugenholtz, who "...designed the circuits Suzuka in Japan, Zolder in Belgium, the Hockenheimring's Motodrom stadium section in Germany, Jarama in Spain, and Nivelles in Belgium."
"Hugenholtz's father, of the same name, was a Protestant minister and peace activist who moved his family to Purmerend in 1918 and Ammerstol in 1924. Hugenholtz studied to be a lawyer and became a journalist by profession, but his interests were in cars. As a young man he was an amateur motorcycle racer. He founded the Nederlandse Auto Race Club in 1936 and was director of the Zandvoort racing circuit from 1949 to 1974."
He also was involved in a couple of automotive concepts including an aero car known as the Delfino from 1989.
Is there currently a more banked turn on the calender?
