Max was 20s clear with 10 laps to go! Of course he was told to lift & coast.. additionally, at one point GP tells max they're trying to keep him slower to prevent him catching up with lapped cars ahead which might've complicated things.ispano6 wrote: ↑30 Aug 2022, 08:36It's in RB best interest to be coy about the upgrades they bring. Rivals will be keen to know and of course look for opportunities to protest or raise doubt of compliance. That being said the RedBull bodywork was significantly different from the halo and side impact structure back. The sidepods kink is now slightly forward. The cooling requirements or ancillaries placement may have changed as could the CoG or center of forward-reward balance. Max was also instructed to lift and coast toward the end of the race so there probably was some margin for error or assurance they needed to consider.
That they have run the current ICE without the MGU-H connected already is not a surprise (I would be amazed if the others haven’t!); makes senses because you need a baseline to see where the removal of a key piece of PU equipment affects your ICE operation. If you don’t have a start point, you have nothing but assumptions to work from.saviour stivala wrote: ↑30 Aug 2022, 11:25Even a single cylinder engine is called an engine. But they make it sound like their for 2026 racing V-6 is already running. Whatever they have running Porsche does not have one single finger in, and if the Porsche dial materializes it is hard to visualize an RBR finger in a Porsche supplied engine.
Not really. The sooner the better. Or it'll end up another Honda esque disaster.saviour stivala wrote: ↑30 Aug 2022, 15:48This piece of news (RBPT has fired-up their own F1 engine) has been around for at least 4 weeks. Meaning that if it is anything other than a single cylinder experimental engine they have started on the job before the new engine configuration rules had been finalized. Now I know that F1’s 2026 package sounds and looks tailor-made for Porsche but to say that anybody have already fired-up their 2026 F1 specification engine is a bit like putting the cart before the horse.
Maybe you didn't understand what I was trying to get at- lift and coast can be for a number of reasons such as overheating mitigation, ensuring enough minimum fuel after the race, trying not to risk anything. We don't know if they feared being under fueled or were barely OK with the starting fuel amount to minimize weight. My comment was about the entire package and the sum of its parts.organic wrote: ↑30 Aug 2022, 12:56

Max's radio from any of his wins this season they're always trying to get him to match p2's laptimes with lift and coasts once he has a safety car pit window
In other words new bodywork likely nothing to do with the lift-coast since it was not out of ordinary
They were trying to encourage him to slow down. The problem is he was already pacing himself.ispano6 wrote: ↑30 Aug 2022, 21:10Maybe you didn't understand what I was trying to get at- lift and coast can be for a number of reasons such as overheating mitigation, ensuring enough minimum fuel after the race, trying not to risk anything. How can they afford this? Have they found a loop hole. The rumours are very true then.
RB Porsche is dead to me.organic wrote: ↑29 Aug 2022, 12:08https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/for ... engigkeit/
Seems RB-Porsche isn't a done deal by any stretch. Honda could be back in if the porsche deal doesn't go through. Sure, it's most likely to be bluffing/posturing by RB since they now hold all the cards (Porsche need to announce entry by September 11 due to their IPO rules - trying to go public)
Yes they are. Just like the plank flexing, FIA will catch them.PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑31 Aug 2022, 02:48How can they afford this? Have they found a loop hole. The rumours are very true then.
couple of outlets reported that the new chassis was paid for with the money allowed to account for inflationPlatinumZealot wrote: ↑31 Aug 2022, 02:48How can they afford this? Have they found a loop hole. The rumours are very true then.
I kinda feel the same .. I have the feeling they will continue with Honda. Which in a sense would be insane; they could possibly be dominating F1 for 4yrs without their name on the car.PlatinumZealot wrote: ↑31 Aug 2022, 02:49RB Porsche is dead to me.organic wrote: ↑29 Aug 2022, 12:08https://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/for ... engigkeit/

I see Porsche going over to Williams and shipping in talent.
