With the lack of running in FP1 it's entirely possible they need a bit more time to dial in the car. I don't think anyone suspects they'll be 1.4 seconds off the 1 lap pace tomorrow.

The rules have changed for 2022. As I understand it there’s now a pool of 4 gearboxes and casings for the year. You can use them and change them without penalty until you need number 5, then the penalties start.
Yeah, I imagine they will find some pace and will be at the top come tomorrow.
Don't get your hopes up . I don't think they are that far off. Basically they tuned the car for the hard tire during FP1 w/ Checo. Hard tire is too hard and won't be used in the race. Tomorrow they will setup the car for the medium and soft tire.
Yeah, I agree. This totally smells like a play out of the Mercedes playbook of old:bluechris wrote: ↑02 Sep 2022, 23:01What is missing from RB theatrics today was Max calling his engineer telling him that the car is bad.
Reminds me MB in all the hybrid era.
I really hope i am wrong but in the life of me i cannot accept a car that is faster 1 sec from all the field in race pace in SPA, suddenly is bad.
I will wait the race, if they will loose or win by a tiny margin, this will support a bit my case.
Offcourse i can be wrong but i feel that RB holds back for specific reasons.
Apparently FOM had a massive timing issue today.
That’s…err… never reassuring for the pinnacle of motorsport
He meant that RB have 6/10ths in hand, not him/ Mercedes.
Thank God we don't have it! That was utter rubbish, getting data out of arse without knowledge to connect with was was happening in race and reasons about car's pace in given time...
And even then, why talk about lap time in tenths, this is a short circuit, better estimate pace difference in percentages.
