I would have to spend several months testing and verifying such a software pack before I'd have enough confidence to stand over results from it.

kilcoo, im getting a different disc soon. When i got i working and understand the features we can compare different programs with their results if you like. Also the meshing etc can be compared than. And as i said, a real cfd program is hard to find.. Beside that, i dont need it for rocket science, but just a good prediction of what will happen in my cilinders.

Not hard to find. Readily available for purchase. If you're a student, many are available at discount.

Cylinder flow with moving boundaries isn't exactly simple flow. Without any validation of your solver, mesh, and constraints... who is to say the prediction will be remotely accurate or crap?

Try to get Ansys. I just "obtained" it, having trouble with the install though.

Any tips on using floworks to obtain down force numbers. I have just begun messing with it and what i thought would be down force does not seem to be correct as when i change the model the result never really changes.

What i am doing now is setting a global goal that is "Component of force in Y direction". Is that the right setting to get down force numbers, or is there some other setting i should be using.

Ive recently been messing around with solidworks flow sim, well at least trying.

I have made a very basic wing, and all I want to know is how to test it...

It mentions the 'lids' thing but seeing as its a wing i am not sure what to do.

I tried extruding a thin cylinder so that the wing lies within the cylinder, but then i get a build error saying, "the intended cut does not intersect the model. Please check the sketch and direction." I am not too great with CAD, so not too sure what the error is. Any help would be nice . Google is doing too well atm.

Thankyou... What version of solidworks is it your using...

2009 is what i have been using at uni...

I managed to sort of get it to work by simply creating a cylinder, then making the inlet and outlet each end of the cylinder.

Only problem was my model was too small i think...

For some reason I can get the same setup or options as you... I cant find a way to do a simulation without lids, or cant see the same options as you. For instance the 'flow simulation' toolbar, I tried doing what yo suggested previously in the thread but it isnt in the addins section :s

Do you have this toolbar?

If not, I´m guessing that you have some kind of lower version of FloWorks. What edition do you use?

EDIT: accordin to wiki, they ship FloWorks Express with every edition but the FloWorks (the one I have) comes only with premium, so I´m guessing you have the Express one

Tomislavp4, I've been trying to download the pdf from mediafire but it is not working, I only get a 26.5kb file which gives an error message. Have you removed it?
