How do you easily copy something that's not visible? Mercedes chief designer John Owen in one of his interviews (I guess in 2020) a while back said, they were happy that everybody spoke about their engine and not the aero. He was surprised nobody was copying their aero and everyone was looking at Red Bull to copy. He was happy with that situation because engine was hiding and was not easy to copy whereas aero was visible to naked eye and easily copyable.
probably because the power of the Merc engine made up for the poor aero they had compared to other teams.

Having the most powerful engine isn’t enough to win 8 straight titles! Just look at Ferrari 2018-2019

That’s a nice narrative for Red Bull and Max fans who cannot accept their golden man Newey got it wrong with the 2014-2021 cars…he didn’t even get the 2021 constructors championship were he truly had both the best chassis (backed of course by rule changes to only disadvantage low rake cars) and the most powerful and reliable engine!
What this regulation has proven is that the Honda engine was never underpowered. The RBR of the previous era suffered because of their agressive rake aero design. Now that they are not allowed to run a lot of rake it actually benefited them. I'm pretty sure Newey is kicking himself for not realizing that sooner and switch his philosophy. All we heard was constant blaming of the Renault and Honda PUs when the problem was actually too much drag.

Regarding the Merc aero; barring this year it has been pretty darn good in the past. Rated at least first or second in every year of the previous regulations. Their aero was so good Racing Point copied it in 2020 and they basically were beating RBR at some races and dominated the midfield that year. Had they had better drivers that year they could have challenged Merc better than RBR did.

All these Merc fans pretending this was A, a good way to finish and B the same as AbuDhabi. There the car got cleaned up quicker, the SC got in front of the CORRECT car, the entire field was already in position. Here, none of that, the field hadn’t even been collected behind the SC. What to do. You can’t start even if you want, the drivers simply weren’t there yet.

This forum, things people feel free to write. Lacks any basic common sense. Or, better said, it isn’t lacking likely, but just gone through extreme length to get the outcome you want. Ignoring reality.
It's "cut off the nose to spite the face" as they say. People pretending to be happy that today's race ended under SC and that everything was fine all because of you know what...

Neither race should have ended under SC.
Noone is pretending to be happy. The race ended fairly and the faster car driver combination won on merit. What you guys don't get is that even a red flag restart would have contaminated the final result because you basically destroy all the good work the drivers did for the entire race and make it a lottery.
Do you people want F1 to be foremost a sport or a show? I want to see the sport and the better performers awarded the best results. That happened today, but that didn't happen in Abu Dhabi 21'.

They want Max. That's it. Just Max. Nothing else. Max.

Last time I checked the sport doesn’t evolve around Max.

Depends on where you look. In Netherlands they’d lose 90% of F1 fans if Max were to walk away tomorrow. Empty Zandvoort lol

You could say that about a lot of countries and their drivers though…?

Mexico - Perez
Britain - Hamilton
Aus. - ric

Etc etc

Mexico, yes. Australia, maybe. Britain, definitely not. In my experience most Brits are F1 fans first and driver fan/team fan second.

Not even a Max fan. Certainly not at the start. More so this year with his driving maturing. If he hangs it up tomorrow then that’s fine by me. F1 will go on.

The fanatical support cast/twitterati and gutter tabloids is what’s destroying peoples perception of reality.

Shame really

Though that was a very impressive race from Max/RBR.

In race config they had the best car no doubt but I think it took Max to exploit it too, I don't think there was any way they were losing that race outside reliability failure etc. Though it was impressive because Ferarri seemed to find some pace in quali so wasn't going to be as simple as a few weeks ago when he had pole but a decent margin.

RBR team and Max are in a different league at the moment and this domination is likely to continue for years to come. Perhaps till 2025.

Great drive for De Vries for scoring 2 points for Williams

Odd thing, the DeVries substitution.

I don't know if it more showed that Latifi doesn't belong in F1, or that Albon has only put the car in finishing places that a last minute rookie substitute was able to achieve...🤔

Mexico -- maybe, GB -- might lose some, though they have a couple of other good drivers to support, and the fan base is much larger than just Hamilton fans, Australia -- we have Piastri coming through, plus a larger fan base (as per GB).

I don't think it really matters. I've been a fan since 2004, and I'm in the US. Perez and Lance are the closest "home" drivers to me, and I still watch.

Masi was fired and the race result was deemed a "human error" to just mask the Verstappen/RedBull favouritism in winning the title and whoever thinks thats not the case then thats sad.
Really ..?
Well, now it's sad then .. I guess.
