Hello, I recently developed an interest in F1 technology and modern suspension components, but have some confusion about the "18 inch wheels" on the 2022 cars.
As stated in the 2022 FIA F1 Technical Regulations section 10.7.2 Wheel Rim Dimensions:
The front wheel rim key dimensions are:
- Tyre mounting width = 335.3mm +/-0.5mm.
- Outer lip diameter = 490,6mm +/-1mm.
The rear wheel rim key dimensions are:
- Tyre mounting width = 429.3mm +/-0.5mm.
- Outer lip diameter = 490,6mm +/-1mm.
I am confused because the outer lip diameter of 490.6mm = ~19.3in, not 18in.
Any clarification would be much appreciated. Thanks!
