Must have been fuel related for Max. 9 tenths up before he backed out I believe. Dont see why he couldnt have took the flag and shut the car off on track.
Rules state that the car must make it back on its own, it would have been dsq if he did that too, I think rb did the best thing
Ahhh, Still a monster lap from Max if he had the fuel. Should be a interesting race.

RB confirmed it was fuel related.

Ham less than a tenth from first pole of 2022! I guess a mistake in S1 cost him as he was flying afterwards
The tires ran out of grip. In normal qualifying on a dry track I think Ham would have had pole with some margin. That Merc is showing just how much downforce it has. When drag is not a factor, it is a monster. I think he will have the best race pace tomorrow.

So Marko just confirmed it was a miscalculation regarding fuel levels. LOL, he was doing 2 pole laps in Q3 and has to start P8. --- happens.

If Max still does not meet the fuel rule, I assume all his q3 laps are removed, but will all his other q laps count?

Won't matter really, he will still win if he starts from the pits.

Sweet! I love a wet->dry qualifying!

Thrilling to the end!

I'm pulling for Hamilton on the upset win tomorrow. A well timed safety car could really shake it up!

The lap was on to be within 0.1 either way of pole:- red bull

It looked like he did a couple of laps of prep before going for the final flyer trying to get the best of the track; he prob took it easy in S1 as a result.

Again this rule it is so silly like a team suddenly has brought a barrel of very amazing fuel , just do the checks before Qualifing , parc ferme rules are there they cant change what they put in the car anyway

The rules say otherwise.

If it's too harsh, he's just going to take all-new PU components and start from the pits. Fresh parts for the WDC clinch in Japan might be the play.🤫

I'm suprised that he could tip toe for much of the last sector and still have enough speed to threaten pole. Shows that his car is set up for straight line speed. I am still expecting Max to pick his way through the field.

The rule is the same for everyone. They all managed to have enough fuel in the car.

Thats wrong. Max was 0.561tenths up on Charles at the end of sector 2. And fastest in the mini sectors.
