You can Kravitz all you want, it's all done and dusted. And that's for a large part caused by poor regulation that set off at the start with an overspend up to 5% considered minor ..
Opinions are clear by now, adding to it will only fuel polarizing. And just for that we have Twitter.

I think if there are things to be found/discussed in the various documents the discussion can continue. If you no longer see value in the discussion you don't have to continue to read or post in the thread.

According to online polls, only 8% of fans think penalty was harsh, 12% it was ok and 80% think it was too lenient.
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

The regulations were not “poor”. 8 out of 10 teams complied without problems at the first time of asking. Only one found that they didn’t understand as many as 13 separate areas in the regulations. It would appear that they contributed to that lack of understanding by not taking part in the dry run organised to iron out misinterpretations.

The only poor thing was, as you say, the use of the word minor. It should have said simply, here are the sanctions and if you exceed 5% we reserve the additional right to disqualify you.

It’s not done and dusted. Assuming they’ve been using the same logic this year RB have to find considerable savings to avoid budget cap overrun this year. The other teams will be all over this.

And this is even part of the rules!
2.11 The F1 Team should seek clarification from the Cost Cap Administration if it is uncertain
whether an entity should be included in its Reporting Group.

That's part of the regulations, right ?
You can setup all boundaries you want, but if you immediately state that the first 5% overspend are considered a minor breach .. then yeah, it's piss poor regulations that almost create an incentive.

But .. ABA is accepted & signed, that's where it ends. Also part of those same regulations. Everything else is Kravitz'ing.

When both sides are unhappy with a penalty, that generally means the penalty is about right.

Actually Otmar says the penalty is OK:

Since Alpine is a team that has a lot to gain with a harsh penalty for Red Bull, that says something. Otmar having some more insight in AM's reporting errors(although not bringing them over the cost cap) might also affect his point of view.

Obviously the regulations were poor. They allowed the option to use aggressive interpretations without incurring excessive penalties.

F1 is a competition where every part of the team takes calculated risks, not just the driver. RB was barely equal to Merc in 2021. I would say excessive risk taking was called for on the part of RB. Game well played in my opinion.

Given how poorly he handled his own driver contract situations, I doubt Otmar really actually understands what the penalty means.

Given the results he achieved with Force India on a limited budget, I would actually think he knows pretty well what it means, and how much RB should still be able to do with the limited wind tunnel time.

Edit: and yes, I think he is an a$$h01e too for how he handled the drivers contracts, but that is of absolutely no relevance.

Bit disingenuous to attribute the achievements of the entire team to just one individual, but this is off-topic so I think I'll just leave it there.

Sure, we arm chair experts on Internet forums understand it better.
