That they did not give Russell the yellow - red strategy is very hard to understand.
Toto said it wasn't even on their radar. The track temps dropped massively from lights out to lap 10 or so. And the sun was mostly behind cloud for the GP after lap 5, so maybe that affected merc's simulations and they didn't adapt on the fly as well as RB. I'm not sure if the 10 degrees of track temp would change it from a med-soft to med-hard though

It's baffling that without verifying it you are taking that Latifi thing seriously. Can anyone find Toto on the record saying that?
He literally doesn't mention Latifi in the entire interview, did you watch it?
Yep.... What does George say at 36-37seconds?

"So easy in hindsight, and I think when we saw Latifi putting the hard tyre on and going green and then Lewis put the hard tyre on and was going green, we thought that was going to be the right thing to do."

I'm sure they realized they screwed up with Hamilton and then felt the need to avoid giving Russell a strat advantage to beat Hamilton. Had they gone with Russell's plan, they might have had two cars on the podium, but it would have been in an uncomfortable order....with a fall out similar to Zandvoort.

Yes I've found it now, apologies, I was listening to Toto because that's who you said originally. Would be helpful in future to provide a timestamp and a quote for who said what. I generally do this when confirming stuff.

Probably, but overtaking was so hard, and Russell was carefull here (see start). They could have gone for it. Makes little sense to me.

I bet its going to be a quiet post-race for Sky...giving they only have Toto to interview.
Lucky for RBR they have their own sponsorship, any of the other teams would have to answer to sponsors for lost airtime
I'm sure sponsors will be very mad

Plus i bet Sky blinks first, as much as they are "british and proud" it's hard to do F1 coverage these days with no words from Max or RBR.

Next race they will talk again. I only hope it will help a bit. Not much hope, but still.

So much deg, not..

Max's stint line in analysis will be horizontal. Ridiculously consistent especially considering the amount of traffic he passed

Literally the same with Ricardo too. It’s amazing these drivers can driver within a second over the course of a couple hours.

I think the biggest disappointment of the weekend for me at least was the top speeds. I was kind of expecting some much higher top speeds. It's crazy to think about how much less drag the cars had pre-2017
Engines are weak and overtake mode is not a real overtake mode anymore, not the way it used to be.

Probably, Russell had no challenge from behind and was therefore ideally placed for a "risky" strategy with no downsides whatsoever.

The car is so unbetable even in tyre management. Max could drive from Mexico to Brazil, start the race on those mediums and win the damn thing too!

Thinking RB is sandbagging and doing a better job hiding it than Merc did. They are performing nearly flawlessly aside from some recent pit errors. They have not been truly pushed since the first few races. I bet Max had tons of time in hand. Onto next season. Will we eventually see more parity with the tiered wind tunnel time plus the cost cap penalty? This is just boring.

Yeah I think the RB has a lot more pace on hand they are not showing yet. Awesome job by Max to win this one. I don't think either of the Mercs would have won this once Max had gotten through in the lead at lap 1.
