Ocon doesn't mention that the only reason they took a new PU on his side of the garage in Austin is because his own performance led to being knocked out in Q1.

He should be embarrassed that old decrepit 41 year old Alonso is visibly the superior driver rather than try and build a narrative that he has been hit with as many issues as Alonso. :? It's disingenuous.
I wouldn’t call him “decrepit” . He may have lost a tenth but his race craft is barely affected.

I was being a bit facetious there. Fernando is in top shop by most all measures. It's only another feather in his cap to be showing the younger drivers the way round at his age.

With Geely owning Lotus, could Alpine F1 Team therefore become Team Lotus or Lotus F1 Team (whichever one Enstone was, I don't remember) again?

Lotus-Renault does have a lovely ring to it, and despite Renault's claims of Alpine being a "high-end" brand, arguably Lotus still has higher prestige, albeit both exotic sportscar brands are IMO still a long way behind Ferrari in 'prestige' and public recognition (or even behind Porsche really).

I feel that predominantly only French car enthusiasts and anoraks (like myself) would be familiar with older (or even modern) Alpine (or similarly Matra) sportscars unlike the broader public recognition of Ferrari, Porsche or even Mercedes sportscars, and to a lesser extent McLaren and Aston Martin.

Alpine is open to capitalize on the financial valuation of its F1 Team assets. Looks like they're looking for a buyer/ partner. Maybe Andretti. What are they waiting for, go knock on Porsche's door. "Pssst, I got a team to sell".

Wouldn't you expect that they've already spoken? Since Audi wanted McLaren to stop selling their cars when they spoke of that partnership, should we expect the same from Porsche? Maybethat's why we haven't heard anything.

That would make Andretti a dream partnership, for a company trying to break into the US market?

Not to mention that the "red, white and blue" is the same as the "bleu, blanc et rouge", Only the order changes.

Looks like the weather has taken a complete 180 for the rest of the weekend. No more rain.

Alonso complaining about something at the rear of the car. They still didn't have it sorted by the end of FP2. Alonso asked his engineer to look into it.

Nice to see an Alpine topping any session at all to be honest even though it's meaningless

Alpine will face grave problems next year if Ocon is not disciplined.

There are a few drivers on the grid now that Id be very careful while overtaking in a faster car... Ocon, Stroll, Tsunoda, Gasly and Sainz (goes under the radar as being a bit on the edge of clean). Having said that, today's incident wasn't that bad I thought. Turn 4 was more egregious but Nando got to stop cutting it so close with these guys on the straight. Great recovery to get to 15th in the end.

Gasly Ocon will be :? because Gasly doesn't back out like Alonso.

So “our friend” ruins the race for both, especially for Alonso who was dead last, and Alonso still manages to overtake him… Such a shame, Alonso could have maybe caused a few problems to the guys in front…
Team Fernando!
